Triumph Motorcycles India has updated its portfolio with the launch of the 2020 Street Triple R, the mid-spec variant of the Street Triple naked roadster series. At Rs 8.84 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the new Street Triple R is placed in a lower price bracket than the flagship model, the Street Triple RS. Here we list the alternatives that buyers can consider.
BMW recently launched the new F 900 R roadster in the Indian market at an ex-showroom price tag of Rs 9.90 lakh. For that premium price tag, the middleweight roadster from the Bavarian brand packs hardware such as full-LED lighting, Bluetooth-enabled TFT instrument cluster, ABS, two riding modes- Rain and Road along with Automatic Stability Control as standard. Mechanical specifications include an 895cc, parallel-twin engine that produces 99bhp at 8,500rpm and 90.08Nm at 6,500rpm.
KTM 790 Duke (Rs 8.63 lakh – BS4)
KTM’s highest displacement motorcycle in the Indian market, the 790 Duke is yet to receive the BS6 upgrade, although the updated model should arrive soon. The BS4 model was offered at Rs 8.63 lakh and the BS6 version will most likely carry a marginal premium over its predecessor. The feature list comprises of full-LED lighting, Bluetooth-enabled TFT instrument cluster, ABS, lean-sensitive traction control, cornering ABS, launch control and wheelie control as standard. The BS4-compliant 799cc, parallel-twin motor produced 105bhp of power and 86Nm of torque, and the BS6 model should deliver similar numbers.
Triumph Bonneville T100 Black (Rs 8.87 lakh)
Triumph Motorcycles’ neo-classic product, the Bonneville T100 features a retro-look that includes round headlight, curvy design, wire-spoke wheels and a flat-seat. The Black edition features a dark theme that brings a black finish to the engine, wire-spokes and the exhaust. The motorcycle is powered by a 900cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that produces 54.3bhp at 5,900rpm and 80Nm of peak torque at 3,200rpm.
Harley-Davidson Iron 883 (Rs 9.38 lakh)
The Iron 883 belongs to the company’s Sportster family and it is available at Rs 9.38 lakh. The feature list isn’t as comprehensive as the Street Triple R but it should appeal to buyers who are looking for a bobber style motorcycle. The Iron 883 is powered by an 883cc, V-twin, air-cooled motor that produces 70Nm of peak torque at 3,500rpm.
