Bajaj Auto has hiked the price of its flagship offering, the 2019 Dominar 400, in India. The touring motorcycle has now been priced at Rs 1.80 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi) which is a hike of Rs 6,000 over the previous price tag. The company had launched the 2019 Dominar 400 in April at an introductory price of Rs 1.74 lakhs. This was an increment of around Rs 10,000 over the previous model.
The 2019 edition of the Dominar is a major departure from its predecessor. While the changes in the design and features are subtle, the motorcycle has received comprehensive updates in terms of cycle parts and powerplant.
Powering the 2019 Dominar 400 is the same 373.3cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor, however, now it features DOHC configuration. Resultantly, the power output has gone up by 4.9bhp to 39.4bhp at 8650rpm. Meanwhile, the torque output remains the same at 35Nm but it comes 500rpm earlier at 7500rpm. Coming to the cycle parts, while the rear monoshock has been retained, the front now comes equipped with upside down forks, as opposed to the telescopic units on its predecessor. Braking power comes from a 320mm single disc with radial caliper at the front and a 230mm disc with a single-pot caliper at the rear. It gets with dual-channel ABS as standard.
Bajaj offers the 2019 Dominar 400 in two colour options including Aurora Green and Vine Black. The bikemaker will be introducing new colour schemes soon. As for the competition, the touring motorcycle locks horns with the Royal Enfield Himalayan and the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250.
