Next-generation BMW S1000R spotted

BMW Motorrad is testing the next-generation S1000R roadster. A test mule of the upcoming motorcycle recently made an appearance through spy photographs. The images reveal the roadster packs a major makeover in its latest form.

In terms of design, the front fascia now drops the twin-pod headlight setup for an F 900 R-style LED unit. The front also gets a new visor that’s noticeably larger than the unit on the old motorcycle. The radiator shroud, engine cowl fuel tank and the rear panel, too, pack a refreshed look with an updated design. The shape of the exhaust is similar to the unit on the S1000RR.

Similar to its predecessor, the next-generation S1000R will share its engine with the S1000RR, albeit in a different state of tuning. The 999cc, inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine on the S1000RR, for reference, generates 200.8 bhp of power and 113 nm of torque.

The S1000R rivals the likes of Ducati Streetfighter V4, KTM 1290 Super Duke R, Yamaha MT-10 and the likes. While the launch details are scarce, the updated model will most likely arrive by early next year.
