The KTM Duke is a brand of bikes made by KTM two wheeler manufacturer in India. There are 4 Duke models on offer with price starting from Rs. 1,79,067 (avg. Ex-showroom). The cheapest model under the series is KTM 125 Duke with 124.7cc engine generating 14.3 bhp of power. Whereas the most expensive model is KTM 390 Duke with 398.63cc engine generating 45.3 bhp of power.

The KTM Duke series in India is known for its excellent performance, great features and styling that makes people turn heads. It became the first choice for young Indians who wanted a motorcycle that was aspirational as well as easy to maintain. With its class-leading performance and competitive price tag, the Duke series has managed to attract riders from all walks of life. Currently, KTM sells five motorcycles in the Duke Series – the 125 Duke, the 200 Duke, the 250 Duke, the 390 Duke and the 790 Duke.

The 125 Duke is the most affordable KTM one can buy in India. The bike sports the same sharp and aggressive styling as the bigger Dukes. This KTM is equipped with fully-digital instrument cluster, trellis frame and upside-down front forks. The braking system is sourced from Bybre and is assisted by single-channel ABS system.

The 200 Duke used to be the highest selling Duke in India, but it moved to the second spot after the Duke 125 was launched. Just like the other Dukes, the Duke 200 is also known for its class-leading power output, rich feature list and an attractive price point. This motorcycle gets its power from a single-cylinder liquid cooled engine. It rides on inverted forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Meanwhile, the braking hardware consists of a 300mm disc up front and a 230mm disc at the rear along with dual-channel ABS as standard.

The 250 Duke has been launched for Indian riders who want the styling of the Duke 390 but don’t have the budget. This Duke takes styling cues from the Duke 390 and a few parts like instrument cluster and mirrors from the Duke 200. The bike rides on the upside-down forks in the front and a monoshock at the rear. The braking department on this bike is being taken care of by a 300mm disc at the front and a 230mm disc at the rear. Dual-channel ABS is standard and switchable too.

The 390 Duke has been the best choice for riders who have been looking to purchase a bike that has great performance and cheaper to run too. The combination of 43bhp motor, excellent feature list and great riding dynamics make it an enticing purchase. Just like its fully-faired sibling, the Duke 390 is also equipped with top-class braking system which has integrated dual-channel ABS system.

The 790 Duke is KTM’s flagship offering for the Indian market. The street naked borrows the sharp styling and features from its elder sibling, the 1290 Super Duke which is sold by KTM in the international markets. Built around a steel trellis frame and aluminium sub-frame, the 790 Duke engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch and bi-directional quickshifter. The 790 Duke comes with an array of electric aids which includes lean-sensitive traction control, cornering ABS, launch and wheelie control along with riding modes that include a ‘Supermoto’ mode that turns off ABS at the rear wheel, allowing the rider to get the tail out while cornering.

I bought the bike from BHUBANESWAR. It was decent enough but they delayed the delivery. The pros are instant power. Mileage is decent service cost starts after 50k kilometres. Every service costs 6500. The bike is a biker's choice. It's not for regular commuters. Buy this bike if you want committed riding.

  • KTM 390 Duke
Journey from August 2018 to 89000km
    Bikonomy Xpress
    1. I purchased in August 2018 and it was difficult to find Orange but White was readily available. 2. I buy it for highway riding only to free from the shackles of rail and airlines. 3. Gen 2/Bharat IV was the first Indian launch which was launched world wide with same features and looks. Unlike before, KTM decided not to create disparity between Indian users and users across world especially Europe. 4. It needs genuine parts which are only available at service centre. Regular service irrespective of KMs run make the bike readily available for highway use. It needs maintenance of chain lube/clean and oil spray on electrical during winter. Pros: - Excellent power to weight ration. - All the Bajaj Dominar parts are inter changeable i.e. from nut to piston head - Same as international model launched. - Highest number of service centres compared to Kawasaki, Triumph, BMW, Ducati, Honda Premium segment, Suzuki Premium Segment, Indian, Harley. - Tyre options available from Ceat to Michelin. - Can go non stop 6000km or 800KM/Day. - It can go without starting radiator for 800km if highway air keep on falling on engine. - An option for users who need more than utility bike but cannot afford 600cc cateogry. Cons - Not at all for city use which is widely misinformed among users. - City air is insufficient and thus, start radiator at once decreasing mileage and gulping petrol. - Only available to those retailers which sell Dominar parts ie. 400cc category. - Not for beginners. - Service cost is more than utility bikes but less than 600cc category. - Chain needs cleaning and lubing at every 400-600km, depending upon the road cleanliness. - Out of bound for local mechanic. - One part failure can make you strand anywhere.

  • KTM 250 Duke
    Awesome Bike
    Devesh Santosh Jadhav
This bike is value for money. The pickup was brilliant. My experience is very awesome. I suggest this bike. The KTM 250 Duke has evolved into its third generation, and it's gotten all mean-looking. And with that, it has also matured as a motorcycle with rider aids that were previously only restricted to the 390 range. Not that the 250 Duke needs them, but it now becomes more approachable and manageable for a rider graduating from the commuter class. It’s laden with features like a bi-directional quick-shifter, dual-channel ABS with a supermoto mode, a 5-inch LCD instrument cluster with a 4-way switch cube, and then some more stuff, which we will get to in due course. While the price has gone up marginally over the Gen 2 model, the bragging rights have certainly gone up by leaps and bounds. This bike is value for money. The pickup was brilliant. My experience is very awesome. I suggest this bike.
