### Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 OverviewThe Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is a significant evolution in the adventure touring segment, building on the legacy of its predecessors while introducing modern engineering and enhanced capabilities. Designed for both the urban jungle and rugged off-road trails, the Himalayan 450 promises versatility, durability, and a thrilling riding experience.#### Design and Build QualityThe Himalayan 450 retains the rugged, utilitarian aesthetics that have become synonymous with the Himalayan series. Its robust frame and high ground clearance immediately signal its off-road prowess. The bike features a minimalistic design with practical elements such as a large windscreen, sturdy crash guards, and ample luggage mounting points, catering to the needs of adventure riders.#### Engine and PerformanceAt the heart of the Himalayan 450 lies a newly developed 450cc single-cylinder engine. This powerplant is a notable upgrade, offering a significant boost in power and torque compared to the older 411cc engine. The increased displacement translates to more responsive throttle performance, making it easier to tackle steep inclines and carry heavy loads over long distances. The engine is complemented by a smooth-shifting six-speed transmission, which is a welcome addition for highway cruising and off-road maneuvering. The fuel injection system ensures optimal fuel efficiency and smooth power delivery, regardless of the terrain or weather conditions.#### Handling and ComfortThe Himalayan 450 shines in its handling capabilities, thanks to its well-balanced chassis and long-travel suspension. The front features a 41mm telescopic fork with 200mm of travel, while the rear is equipped with a monoshock with 180mm of travel. This setup absorbs bumps and rough terrain with ease, providing a comfortable ride both on and off-road.The bike's ergonomic design is tailored for long-distance comfort. The seat is well-padded and spacious, and the upright riding position reduces fatigue on extended rides. Additionally, the Himalayan 450 comes with a digital-analog instrument cluster that offers essential information at a glance, including a trip meter, gear indicator, and fuel gauge.#### Features and TechnologyRoyal Enfield has equipped the Himalayan 450 with modern technology to enhance the riding experience. Key features include:- **Dual-Channel ABS**: Ensures controlled braking on slippery and uneven surfaces.- **LED Lighting**: Improved visibility with a full LED headlamp and tail lamp.- **Navigation**: Built-in GPS navigation system for seamless route planning.- **USB Charging Ports**: Convenient for charging mobile devices on the go.#### Pros and Cons**Pros:**- Powerful and responsive 450cc engine- Excellent off-road capabilities- Comfortable for long rides- Modern features and technology- Sturdy build quality## ConclusionThe Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is a compelling choice for adventure enthusiasts looking for a reliable and capable companion. Its blend of rugged design, powerful performance, and modern features makes it well-suited for both everyday commuting and epic cross-country journeys. While it comes at a higher price, the improvements and enhancements justify the investment for serious riders. Whether you're navigating city streets or exploring uncharted trails, the Himalayan 450 is ready to conquer it all.

Unfortunately, when I started exploring, my serious considerations were restricted BMW G310GS and KTM 390 ADV. I did multiple test rides of these two motorcycles. BMW was ruled out quickly, however, KTM 390 ADV was still in contention. Considering my current riding style and the nature of KTM I did not take the plunge. I was waiting patiently for Hero/Harley and Bajaj/Triumph to surprise me. Though I knew about the potential new Himalayan with a brand new 450 cc engine, it was never in my list. This is because I did not believe Royal Enfield will bring a single-cylinder motorcycle with a 40PS power. We set a limit of mid-2024 and if nothing was finalized, our options were 1) Used V-Strom 650/Versys 650 or 2) New KTM 390 ADV if we are not able to find good used Vs.Come November 1st week, Royal Enfield surprised me. A brand new Himalayan with 450 CC liquid-cooled engine with nearly 40 ps of power and 40 nm of torque. I took the plunge and pre-booked on the first day. Because this will be my third motorcycle from RE and a first-generation motorcycle from RE with its notorious reputation, I was very clear that I would convert this to booking only after an extensive test ride and only if it fits all my needs.

Its value for money and looks are awesome as well as performance but when you go on a long drive and sit with two people then not feel comfortable and face some problems. And it's my humble request to Royal Enfield to please fix this problem because when we buy it and think it will fill our all needs related to bikes and it does not fulfill our needs then feel some insecurities.
