UM Motorcycles projects 50 per cent growth in FY2018

- UM sold 9,800 motorcycles in FY2017

- Targeting 15,000 units in next fiscal

- Has invested Rs 50 crore to set up a new manufacturing facility

UM Motorcycles is bullish about achieving over 50 per cent growth in two-wheeler sales in the current financial year. The company will be adding at least 22 new dealerships to widen its footprint to help achieve this target.

Since it started its operations in India in 2014, UM has added 78 dealerships to its network. It plans to take this number to 100 over the next three months. The company is focussing on tier I and tier II cities for these new dealerships. It sold over 9,800 motorcycles in the last financial year, and is bullish about increasing its sales by 50 per cent and touching 15,000 units in the current financial year.

UM will also be adding four new models to its portfolio by September. While two of these would be a part of the existing Renegade range, the other two will be the entry-level Duty models, powered by 230cc engines. UM has also invested Rs 50 crore to set up a new plant in Hyderabad, which will increase its annual capacity from 30,000 units to 80,000 units. This facility will cater to southern and western regions.
