- Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS India launch tomorrow
- Is expected to cost around Rs 17 lakh
- Uses a 1160cc, inline-three engine
Triumph Motorcycles globally unveiled the all-new Speed Triple 1200 RS only yesterday and is ready to launch the motorcycle in India tomorrow, 28 January.
The Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS will be positioned higher than the Street Triple RS that costs Rs 11.33 lakh. So, we can expect it to be priced between Rs 16 lakh and Rs 17 lakh, ex-showroom. For the uninitiated, the Speed Triple 1200 RS is the successor to the Speed Triple 1050 and like its name suggests, gets a bigger engine. This 1160cc, inline-three cylinder motor produces 178bhp and 125Nm. And despite it being larger in capacity, the motor is 7kg lighter than before.
To put a leash on all that power, Triumph has kitted the Speed Triple 1200 RS with electronic rider aids like a cornering ABS, switchable cornering traction control, five riding modes along with cruise and wheelie control. And the track-focused Speed Triple 1200 RS also boasts of top-spec Brembo Stylema brakes, sticky Metzeler Ractec RR tyres and Ohlins-sourced suspension for the front and rear.
The list of features also includes a Bluetooth-enabled five-inch TFT screen that offers two different themes and can be connected to the GoPro app as well. The bike also gets a full keyless system and full-LED lighting adorning its new aggressive fascia. Moreover, the Speed Triple 1200 RS also gets a lighter chassis, more muscular fuel tank and a sleek tail section to complete the look. Triumph has also swapped the underseat exhausts for a single, side mounted unit on the new Speed Triple.
