With the aim of improving its market penetration, Suzuki plans to add over 300 new touch points across the country by the end of 2018-19. The company will also roll out a web portal to allow customers to book their motorcycle or scooter online.
As of now, Suzuki has over 900 touch points across the country. By the end of this financial year, Suzuki is aiming to increase this number to 1,087. Of these, 510 will be authorised dealers, 149 will be branches of these dealerships and the remaining 428 touch points will be authorised service centres. In the next financial year, the company will be adding 200 more touch points to take the number to 1,287.
Suzuki has now shifted its focus from mass market motorcycles to scooters and premium motorcycles. The company will eventually pull out completely from the mass market motorcycle segment. With an aim to sell 10 lakh two-wheelers in 2020, the company will be introducing two new products every year. Its newest premium commuter motorcycle, the Intruder, will be launched in India on 7 November.
