Mahindra Two Wheelers will launch the Rockstar edition of the Centuro for the Indian market this year. The motorcycle gets cosmetic changes and will be priced lesser than the O1 and N1 variants of the Centuro.
The Rockstar edition is based on the current Centuro and there are not many major changes the manufacturer has made to the design of the bike except for some cosmetic ones. The bike gets new decals, LED pilot lamps, telescopic front forks with hydraulic dampers, five-step adjustable rear shocks with coil over spring and LED tail lamps. The motorcycle still comes with black alloy wheels unlike entry-level commuter bikes that get spoke wheels.
Though the Centuro Rockstar is based on the Centuro, this variant gets fewer features than the current model. The Rockstar edition will not get the remote flip key with LED torch light, anti theft alarm, find me lamps, guide me lamps and digital dashboard with distance to empty as seen on the Centuro. However,the bike will get a flip key.
The Mahindra Centuro Rockstar edition will be powered by the same engine as seen on other variants like the O1 and N1. This means the Rockstar edition will be powered by the 106.7cc single cylinder air-cooled MCi-5 (Micro Chip ignited-5 curve) four-stroke engine that produces 8.38bhp of power and 8.5Nm of torque. This motor comes mated to a four-speed gearbox. Self start is available as standard along with kick start lever.
The Rockstar variant is an entry-level model and Mahindra plans to place it below O1 and N1 variants. With an amount of Rs 6,000 lesser than the top-end Centuro, the manufacturer might launch the bike at Rs 44,710 (ex-showroom Ahmedabad). With the reduction of features, the company has reduced the price of the bike making it more affordable in market. This will be one of the launches planned by the company for 2014 and will launch it initially in select states of India like Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat. The Centuro Rockstar variant will go up against the Hero MotoCorp Splendor, Bajaj Discover 100 M and the Honda Dream Neo.
