Mahindra Mojo spied testing in Pune

The Mahindra Mojo was spied testing in Pune recently by our friends at Power Drift and they were lucky enough to get close shots of the test mule in action. The motorcycle was seen with no paint on the body panels and mudguards, the engine cover seems different and it also seems to be housing a new engine.

The concept version, of the most powerful Mahindra two-wheeler, was displayed in 2010. The mule spotted by PD seems like it is waiting for the finishing touches before the official launch next month. The actual production motorcycle might look totally different from this test mule and might have a lot of cosmetic touches added to it. The company has worked closely with its racing division, the Mahindra racing team, for development of the Mojo.

Originally slated to be launched in 2010, it was received with mixed response, some lauded the attempt, whereas most dismissed it as an exercise in excess. Mahindra did take the criticism constructively and have been testing it for a while now. The time spent in testing shows they are serious about this segment which has a different set of consumers as compared to a budget motorcycles buyer.

The Mojo might be unveiled at the Auto Expo 2014 and will compete with the KTM 390. It features a 300cc twin-cylinder, eight-valve engine with a Ducati-sourced Electronic Fuel Injection system to strike a balance between performance and emissions. The engine produces 26bhp of power at 8,500rpm and 24Nmof torque at 7,000rpm of torque mated to a six-speed gearbox.

Mahindra Two Wheelers is new to the business and everything they do is a first for them, for they introduced the first 110 cc two-wheeler the Centuro and Pantero, among the slew of scooters in their product portfolio. Although Mahindra’s USP is its pricing, we are not expecting the Mojo to be cheaper than competition but be competitively priced.
