It’s been slightly over a month since we acquired the Kaza Classic adventure touring jacket and the trousers. They have been developed for adventure riding, but I used it for daily commuting too.

The best aspect of the jacket is the amount of comfort it offers. The jacket doesn’t really hug the body. There’s so much space and at the same time, the overall fit is good for commuting as well as a long haul. There’s no irritation, there is no feeling of removing it as soon as possible. I’ve the tendency of removing the jacket as soon I park my bike in the office due to the lack of ventilation and heat. But with the Kaza Classic, there was no urge to do that. The ventilated zippers get credit for this. The torso and the arm ventilators work flawlessly. I usually leave from office at around 3:30pm and most of the time the heat is unbearable – but not in this jacket. The zip and the buttons are rock solid. However, the buttons require strength to operate.

I didn’t like the trousers very much. While it offers plenty of storage because of the four massive pockets, the lack of ventilation spoils the experience. It feels hot inside and that made me very uncomfortable. It’s the same story even in the morning when the mercury level isn’t high. Some level of ventilation would have been nice, at least near the thigh area.

The pockets on the trousers are fantastic. They provides ample space for things like phones and wallets. During my recent Chennai to Mumbai ride, the trousers were my charging area – phone on the hip pocket and the portable charger inside the double flap one. The depth of these pockets was perfect for my electronic equipment.

The build quality of the jacket and the trousers is astounding. Even the rest of the BikeWale team appreciated this when we first unboxed them. It will be interesting to see if the jacket and the trousers will be able to handle my rough use over the next few months. In the next report, we’ll find out if the Royal Enfield Kaza Classic jacket and trousers are worth the price.
