Introduction

KTM 390 Adventure Exterior

The KTM 390 Adventure was possibly one of the most awaited launches of the decade. It was launched with much fanfare and we even got to experience it first at an off-road park, followed by a few days of riding in the city and on the highway. While most of you have gone through the roadtest stories, we decided to sum up a few important things. So allow us to tell you the 5 key things our 390 Adventure review revealed.

Comfortable

The 390 Adventure is a tall motorcycle but once you manage to get on the saddles, things are quite comfortable. The riding ergonomics are suited for city as well as highways. The seating triangle is relaxing too. Plus, the presence of large and wide seat makes it easy to have an adult as a pillion.

Loaded with electronics

The KTM 390 Adventure is the only motorcycle in the segment that has features like cornering ABS, traction control system, bi-directional quick-shifter, ride-by-wire and TFT display. The well-equipped nature makes it one extremely well priced motorcycle.

Fuel efficiency

This KTM managed a city fuel efficiency of around 26kmpl. On the highways, it increased to around 29 kmpl, which gives a total riding range of approximately 400kms.

Powertrain

The motor and the gearbox on the 390 Adventure is the same one that is seen on the 390 Duke. The Austrian brand hasn’t played with it to meet the ADV norm. So things like poor low-end torque, short-gear ratios and high-revving nature are a part of the 390 Adventure. And this is where, it makes things a bit boring as it is always good to have good amount of torque at the low-revs while trail riding.

It’s a tourer!

While the bike has adventure name on it, the 390 is more of a tourer, and that too a fast one. The bike behaved extremely well on the highway, and thanks to the presence of a 43bhp motor, it’s easy to much miles. The decently sized windscreen too provides protection from the wind.
