Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster BS6: Top 5 highlights

Triumph has launched the BS6-compliant version of its cruiser offering, the Bonneville Speedmaster, in India. Besides the introduction of a new paint scheme and revisions in the engine, the motorcycle has remained unchanged. Nevertheless, we tell you the top five things you should know about the Speedmaster.

New colour option

Although Triumph has retained the overall styling of the bike, it has rolled out a new Cobalt Blue paint scheme. Other already-available colour options include Jet Black and the pricier Fusion White with Phantom Black and hand-painted golden pinstripe on the fuel tank.

Prices

The Jet Black and Cobalt Blue colour options of the Speedmaster BS6 have been priced at Rs 11.33 lakh which is the same as the BS4 model. Meanwhile, the more special Fusion White paint scheme costs Rs 11.64 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).

BS6-compliant engine

While the Speedmaster BS6 continues to be powered by the same 1,200cc, ‘high-torque’ parallel-twin engine, it has been revised for cleaner emissions. In spite of that, the power figures have witnessed a marginal hike and now it produces 77.2bhp at 6,250rpm and 107Nm at 4,000rpm. The engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox.

Electronics

The Speedmaster BS6 continues to feature the same electronic aids as before. It gets a ride-by-wire throttle which has allowed the inclusion of two riding modes – Rain and Road, which tweak the throttle response while keeping the power delivery unaltered. The motorcycle also incorporates ABS, traction control and cruise control.

Hardware

The Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster stays true to its modern-classic genre with a conventional hardware package. It rides on 16-inch spoke wheels which are suspended by telescopic forks with 90mm of travel and a monoschock with 72mm of travel, both sourced from Kayaba. At the front, there are two 310mm discs with Brembo calipers while the rear features a single 255mm dic with a Nissin caliper.
