It was my first bike and now it's more than 2 year, the engine is clear as when I bought it . I had done more than 25k kilometers , the bike is superb in condition. The engine, gear box are still crispy. It is widely said that it is waste of money to buy a 150cc bike in this rate but it is the best in the class and over rating power and awesome look, as a 1000cc superbike . Only mileage and price comes as compared to the other bikes in the segment but the power, look, perfection and durability will overcome this.

    1. Buying experience I landed a new job. I needed a bike for daily commute. Its a dream for me to own a bike in my own money. I was looking online for best bikes. I came to know about r51v3 from a friend. The bike was newly launched. I saw reviews about previous versions and how uncomfortable it was for riders. But, one day i saw the bike in road. I totally fell in love. I checked price online it was 1.25l ex showroom. I was earning enough. I decided to go for it. My budget was only 1lakh. I considered buying ns 200 or apache 200. Those were high cc engines compared to r15v3. So, i finally went to nearby showrooms. I was shocked to see the bike is not available in any of the showrooms. They told me i have to pre book and wait for 3 months. I was disappointed. I looked as my showrooms as i could. I called friends and no one was aware. There is one showroom which is in kattupakkam it was the best in chennai. I went there and i pre booked. I never test drove any of the bikes(big mistake). After pre booking (5000) i called the showroom every week to check if my bike has arrived. After 2 months they called and asked for final settlement i went with finance. On the day i was about to pay initial i saw r15v3 standing like a beast. I was omg!!!! i told my dad i want this. I sat on it and asked for test drive they said its waiting for delivery and its someone else s bike. I was disappointed but i am surely buying this beast. I paid and after a week suddenly the showroom people called and asked me to come and sign for registration, it was august 31, law has been changed and from sep 1 insurance is must for 5 yrs. I told them i cant come i am in office. They showroom guy took my bike in mud and rainy day n got my aadhar from my mom. I was so upset that day. Then september 1 i got my bike home. They gave after registering only. They also charged 15k extra for finance ( don't go for finance). I didn't like the buying experience coz i had to take cash out for 40k they wont accept card.2. Riding experience. I know the bike is not comfortable for pillion. My dad is the first person to sit behind and i had to ride in heavy traffic to get my number plate sticker. My dad and mom didn't like it. Coz its a sports bike. I couldn't sit comfortably also. I haven't rode a sports bike before. It was really uncomfortable. Imagine you spent all your money in your bike and its uncomfortable (big mistake). I went online saw how to sit and all. Nothing works in city traffic. But the engine and riding in free highway is a bliss. The performance was good. I still dont sit comfortably in my bike. I got back pain now. Its been 2 years. I love my bike but remember you are going to ride your bike not look at it. Well i do look at her and wonder how beautiful she is. Just like a girl friend. You know pain in the a** but you still love her. 3. Looks and performance. Simply astounding. She is my beauty queen. There were days i simply watch my bike from my window. She is a beast. It may be 155cc engine but it can overtake apache 200.4. Servicing and maintenance I wont say its good or bad. Service centers are like that these days. They dont fix the issue at all. They just force you to get teflon or silencer paint and wont fix the issues you ask them to fix. Simply waste.1st service cost - around 10002nd around - 20003rd around - 20004th around - 15005th around - 30006th around - 3000Its been 2 years. I recently took my bike to pondy. I didn't notice but my friends did that my bike s engine sound is too loud. I have to take her to service. It has great mileage. Avg 50km per litre.5. Pros* stunning looks* good handling* great engine 6. Cons* tires are not good. * no abs in mine* vibration, you will definitely feel in long rides* aggressive riding posture( very important)* poor head lamps* cheap plastic Accidents:1. After a week of purchase, i hit a car in signal, could nt control the bike and the tank plastic cover came out.2. After a month, hit a man and i fell on road, right hand bar bent, indicators broke, full scratches on fairing, silencer and tail.3. Many times when turning or breaking wheels lock and speech or drag.Overall, this bike doesn't suit my family or needs. I never took my mom in my bike. I tried one day but she couldn't and i really feel bad. Anyway it was my dream to own this and after you got your dream what else then.I was so proud to show my bike to friends. They were kind of happy. This bike is basically to show off. If you are thinking of buying any sports bike think 10 times.I still look at my bike, i ride, i talk to her. Nothing is perfect, no one is. :)

Pros and cons - based on my experience with the bike.I have an r15 v3 2019 version with dual abs. Will start with the cons/deficiencies first and also do read my views after/about the cons.Cons:1. The headlight is bad for riding at night. It doesn't give confidence at all if you want to cruise. Both the width and the length it covers, leaves you asking for more.2. I did not feel comfortable sitting at the front seat to ride. It was a very good smooth road. So u can imagine if the road was bad. And don't even ask about sitting continuously at back. That would be terrible.3. The bike doesn't completely stick to its lane while doing curves at speeds. It is just a little tough to keep in the same lane if the curve is more.4. This is what's really bad - the lack of 6th gear. The bike would've been even smoother if it had a sixth gear and actually one keeps looking for it while on the highways.5. No gear indicator. Really this should've been provided. Yes, you would be at lower or higher gear on traffics particularly and you would want to know the gear position. But you have to figure it out yourself.6. In the console, you have to press the button every time to move from one info to the other. My take, on the above cons:1. Like many bikes, you have to install a local aux light. And you are good to go anywhere.2. I think it's the same case with most of the bikes nowadays- they don't give any physical comfort while riding.3. But this isn't actually that bad. Reduce the speed just a little bit at times when doing curves and that's it.4. Yes it would've been great if they'd given this.5 & 6. Yamaha must upgrade the console. Really this is a basic requirement nowadays.Pros:1. Smooth engine. If you are looking for a bike which is good for both city as well as highways, this is the one. Absolutely no vibes anywhere.2. Pickup is just too good. Whatever is the speed, you increase the throttle just a bit (or more), there is an immediate response from the bike.3. No heating and other issues even if you ride continuously. Just get onto the bike and start riding. In all, i feel the cons for me are too small compared to what this bike offers. It's a beautifully made machine. Awesome bike and so far so good for me with the bike. I would highly recommend this if anyone is looking in this segment.

2018 BikeWale Track Day - Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0

02 April 2018
Ranjan R. Bhat

For the 2018 BikeWale Track Day, I wanted to get my elbow down on a Yamaha YZF-R1M at the Valencia track in Spain. But then I was reminded of our budgets and my capabilities by the wide chicken strips on my Apache. So we settled for the next best thing – a Yamaha YZF-R15 on...
