Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX BS6: Top Highlights

Kawasaki India has announced the launch of the BS6-compliant Ninja 1000SX in the Indian market at an ex-showroom price tag of Rs 10,79,000. Here we list the top highlights of the litre-class sports tourer from the Japanese manufacturer.

Design

The Ninja 1000SX is the fourth-generation model of the company’s sport-touring platform. Styling cues on the Ninja 1000SX include a full-fairing design, four-way adjustable windscreen, twin-pod headlight, split seats and a single-sided muffler. Kawasaki has also revised the rider and pillion seat for added comfort. The motorcycle is built around a twin-tube, aluminium frame. The Ninja 1000SX BS6 will be sold in two colour options – Metallic Graphite Gray/Metallic Diablo Black and Emerald Blazed Green/Metallic Carbon Gray/Metallic Graphite Gray.

Features

The Ninja 1000SX BS6 comes equipped with features such as full-LED lighting and a new 4.3-inch all-digital, TFT colour display. The new instrument cluster uses Kawasaki’s RIDEOLOGY THE APP using Bluetooth smartphone connectivity.

Engine

The motorcycle is powered by a BS6-compliant 1,043cc, inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 140bhp of maximum power at 10,000rpm and 111Nm of peak torque at 8,000rpm. The engine is linked to a six-speed transmission.

Electronic Aids

The Ninja 1000SX is loaded with electronics to ensure rider safety. The rider aids comprise of four riding modes (Sport, Road, Rain and Rider), ABS, traction control and Kawasaki Cornering Management Function. Features such as the cruise control system and a quick-shifter are also a part of the package.

Hardware

The shock absorption tasks on the Ninja 1000SX are handled by 41 mm inverted forks and Horizontal Back-link, gas-charged rear shock. The front forks are adjustable for compression and rebound damping and spring preload. The rear mono-shock is rebound damping and spring preload-adjustable. Braking setup on the motorcycle comprises of twin 300mm discs at the front and a single 250mm rotor at the back. The new model also comes equipped with Bridgestone’s BATTLAX HYPERSPORT S22 tyres.

Price

The new Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX BS6 has been priced at Rs 10,79,000. In comparison, the BS4-compliant Ninja 1000 was sold for Rs 10,29,000. The booking process for the motorcycle is open at authorised dealerships.
