Ducati India has officially teased its new middle-weight supersport, the Panigale V2, on its social media channel. The teaser image is accompanied by the ‘Coming Soon’ hash tag indicating that its India launch is in the offing.

The motorcycle will replace the Panigale 959 in the bike maker’s portfolio. It was unveiled at the company’s World Premiere last year and we were surprised by the fact that it looks nearly identical to the larger Panigale V4. It gets the same split headlamp setup with angular contours and eyebrow-like LED DRLs. The sharp lines across its main fairing, sculpted fuel tank and high-set raked tail section are also inspired by the V4.

On the feature front, the Panigale V2 gets a new 4.3-inch full-colour TFT instrument cluster which is same as that of the new Hypermotard and V4. Other electronic aids include cornering ABS, anti-wheelie control, engine brake control and three riding modes including Race, Sport and Street.

The motorcycle also gets improved hardware in the form of a revised chassis and a single-sided swingarm, as opposed to the double-sided unit of its predecessor. Damping duties are handled by 43mm, adjustable Showa big-piston forks and a Sachs monoshock along with Brembo brakes.

Powering the Panigale V2 is the same 955cc, V-twin Superquadro motor but it has been updated to comply with the new Euro5/BS6 emission norms. Churning out 150.7bhp at 10,750rpm and 104Nm at 9,000rpm, it produces 5bhp and 2Nm more than its predecessor. It comes mated to a six-speed gearbox with up and down quick shifter. Furthermore, the signature dual barrel exhaust have been replaced by a single canister with a stubby design.

Ducati is expected to launch the new Panigale V2 in India after the ongoing lockdown lifts. As for the pricing, it is likely to be demand a significant premium over the Panigale 959 which was priced at Rs 14.74 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Expect the V2 to cost in the ballpark of Rs 15-15.50 lakh(ex-showroom).
