Bajaj has been successful in creating a lot of hype around their new Dominar brand. Priced at Rs 1.36 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the Dominar 400 is seen as a value-for-money motorcycle already. And it looks likely that Bajaj will launch more bikes under this new brand.
When Bajaj launched the Pulsar more than a decade ago, it was clear that it wants Pulsar to be seen and known as the entry-level sports bike brand in India. With the Dominar, it plans to follow the same strategy but with higher displacement motorcycles. As per a source, the company has a plan of introducing two more bikes under the ‘Dominar’ brand. However, these bikes won’t make it to the market for at least two years. While the source didn’t reveal more details about these bikes, we believe the bikes in question are an adventure model and a fully faired one. Bajaj had already revealed the Pulsar SS400 at 2014 Auto Expo, which could be one of these bikes. The adventure model, however, hasn’t been spotted, even in concept form.
It’s easier for Bajaj to develop the new adventure model as KTM is readying their 390 Adventure. And thanks to the Bajaj-KTM alliance, the transfer of technology is easier and faster. So we can expect to see more Dominar bikes by 2018-2019.
Stay tuned for more details on the upcoming Dominar bikes.
