Just more than a month ago, we told you about Kawasaki planning to supercharge more motorcycles. Now, according to leaked patent images and rumours Suzuki is working on a supercharged GSX-R750 and GSX-R1000. According to international media, both bikes are expected to appear in Suzuki’s line-up for 2017.
The set of patent images filed by Suzuki clearly show the supercharger and the intake tube for it. The first picture clearly shows that the motorcycle is a GSX-R750 which will have new intakes on the nose of the fairing to allow the huge rush of air needed to feed the supercharger.
The second picture is a GSX-R1000, the image shows the left hand side of the bike, the exhaust is clearly seen in full view. This means that either the pipe is switching to the other side of the bike for when it’s released or the new GSX-R1000 is reverting to a two-pipe system as it had in from 2007 to 2012. The images of the engine clearly show the supercharger and the intake similar to the one on the GSX-R750.
Another motorcycle from the Suzuki stable to get the supercharger treatment is the Hayabusa. It would make sense as Suzuki is developing the technology needed for supercharging their bikes. However, some rumours suggest it could be turbocharged. With three bikes going the supercharged way from Suzuki alone, expect 2017 to be a supercharged year for motorcycles.
