Honda's two-time world champion Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa will pilot the all-new RC213V MotoGP bike, which was unveiled on stage at Indonesia's Sentul Circuit.
HRC has adopted the 1000cc four-cylinder “V” engine which is now lighter, more powerful and has rider-friendly characteristics. For 2016, this engine makes power figures around the 240bhp mark. The chassis has been modified in its rigidity balance and designed to reach the maximum compatibility between turning and stability. The twin-spar aluminium chassis has also been modified to provide ideal stiffness and strength.
The RC213V is fitted with Ohlins suspension front and rear. Providing the essential link between wheel and chassis. Both Repsol Honda riders also have dedicated Ohlins technicians assigned to them. The 2016 RC213V has a modified lightweight carbon-fibre bodywork making the RC213V as aerodynamic as possible
Furthermore, the Michelin supplied MotoGP tyres are limited to a maximum of 22 slick tyres, 14 wet tyres and 6 intermediate tyres for each rider, during each race weekend.
Upon the launch, Pedrosa admitted the new iteration of the bike was not yet perfected. He said, "With a number of changes, this bike is a challenge for us." Only outcomes on the track will tell if Honda is headed in the correct direction with its MotoGP bike.
