Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Chandigarh Traffic Police with an aim to promote road safety in Punjab and Haryana. With the help of this association, the company will adopt the first-ever Traffic Education Park in that region.

The park is located in Chandigarh Sector 23-A and is a specially designed, protected environment within 15 acres. Honda will provide ‘Lifetime Safety Education’ for all age groups starting from five year old school children, to adults and there will be special focus on women wanting to have  freedom of independent mobility. At this park, expert Honda safety instructors will train new riders on correct riding techniques. These riding trainers will aid people above 13 years to experience the various risks involved while riding on Indian roads.

Yadvinder S. Guleria, Vice President-Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “As a leading corporate citizen, Honda understands that its responsibility goes beyond production of two-wheelers to expand safe riding environment in India. The basic issue is not only infrastructure but mindset of road users. After empowering a phenomenal 60,000 participants within 1.5 years through our four existing traffic parks, Honda is committing itself to make Safe Riding an everyday habit for two-wheeler riders in Chandigarh.”

Honda has kept safety as its priority and has been promoting safe riding since 2001. The company set up its first traffic park in Jaipur in 2012 after which three more such parks were started in Delhi and in Odisha at Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. The company claims they have trained nearly 60,000 people of all age groups through these four parks and the new park in Chandigarh will also aim at doing the same.
