Hero MotoCorp will start production at its Rajasthan-based Green Field Plant in the final quarter of this year. The company has invested Rs 550 crore in setting up this facility along with its new Global Parts Center (GPC).

The new plant is situated in Neemrana area in Rajasthan which is spread over 47 acres and will employ 1,000 workers. The new plant will have an annual capacity of 7.50 lakh units once it is complete. The GPC  will have an automated storage and retrieval system, automated packaging and sorting systems, on-line tracking of parts using a warehouse management system  and lean manufacturing systems.

The company recently unveiled 10 facelifted models that will be launched soon. This new plant will help the Gurgaon-based manufacturer maintain its lead over its Japanese rival who has been growing quicker than the industry.

"The total capital expenditure lined up for this financial year was Rs 1,100 crore. This includes the commencement of operations of our new plant at Neemrana in the final quarter of this year," said Ravi Sud, CFO, Hero MotoCorp.
