KTM Duke 390 ABS launched in Singapore; spied in Pune again

KTM has launched the Duke 390 ABS in Singapore for 11,900 SGD (Rs 5.24 lakh). The price appears to be pretty steep but that is mainly due to stringent customs policy in the South Asian country. In fact the pricing is very competitive in the Singaporean market as the Duke 390 is priced for a premium of 15 per cent over the Duke 200, which retails for 10,600 SGD (Rs 4.67 lakh).

In the UK market, KTM has used similar strategy – there is a difference of just 300 GBP (Rs 26,000) between the prices of the Duke 200 and the Duke 390 ABS.

Looking at the pricing strategy we expect Bajaj to take offensive route in India as well. Both these bikes – the  Duke 200 and Duke 390 ABS are manufactured at Bajaj’s Chakan plant and share lot of components , which in turn keep the difference to minimum.

Also, a reader of IAB has spied testing the KTM Duke 390 ABS near Akurdi in Pune. This is the fourth time the motorcycle has been spied testing with the last one being just 5 days ago. We can clearly conclude from these spotting that the motorcycle is in last round of testing and will be launched in next few days for the Indian market.

We are expecting the Duke 390 ABS to be launched in India at around Rs 2 lakh mark. Some Pro-Biking dealers have started taking un-official bookings for the motorcycle.
