Introduction

Royal Enfield Meteor 350 Rynox Storm Evo 2 Gloves

Short gauntlet gloves are great for city riding and commuting to work every day as they are easy to wear and remove, compact enough to fit in a small backpack, and quite breathable too. But what about when you get that much-needed break from work and decide to hit the road for a long-distance ride or the weekend spin to a dhaba 80kms away or those half-yearly track days? In those times, short gauntlet gloves tend to be underequipped when it comes to protection.

So, knowing how extensively we ride motorcycles, Rynox Gears sent in a pair of their top-of-the-line, full-gauntlet gloves which they call Storm Evo 2 to review. But before I tell you how the Storm Evo 2 gloves are like to wear, feel and use, let me first give you an overview.

Product Details

Royal Enfield Meteor 350 Rynox Storm Evo 2 Gloves

The Rynox Storm 2 Evo is made of soft, full-grain leather of the perforated type to keep things cool during summers. Moreover, the gloves also get air-scoops for optimum ventilation. Adding to the comfort factor, Rynox has equipped the Storm Evo 2 with a two-step closure that includes two velcro straps- an adjustable one at the wrist and a large velcro strap lower down.

In terms of protection, the Rynox Storm Evo 2 is heavily kitted. To begin with, there is the Scaphoid Protection System from Knox which consists of two abrasion-resistant sliders on the palm. This also ensures that in case of impact, the gloves slide smoothly instead of gripping the impact surface. The gloves also boast of PVC knuckle protectors, foam inserts on the outer side of the fingers as well as a carbon fibre slider on the outer side of the wrist. And the entire glove, including the protectors, is CE level 1 certified.

To make life easier with a full-gauntlet glove, Rynox Gears have fitted the Storm Evo 2 gloves with a different material on the index fingers that allows using a smartphone. The other interesting feature the Storm Evo 2 boasts of is its zero wear-in time which is rather uncommon for a pair of leather, full-gauntlet gloves. More on that in the next report!
