Yamaha XSR 155 rival unveiled in Japan

- GPX GTM250R introduced

- Uses a 250cc single-cylinder engine

- Will not be launched in India

Thailand-based GPX has taken the wraps off the GTM250R in Japan and is likely to introduce the motorcycle in other Asian markets soon. The brand is offering it as a limited-edition model with a production of just 150 units.

This motorcycle has a unique appeal thanks to its styling. Following a retro design language the GTM250R comes in the form of a café racer and gets a bubble fairing with a circular LED headlamp. The fuel tank comes with chunky tank pads, a single-piece seat with pillion seat cowl and a blacked-out look.

Powering the GTM250R is a 250cc, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine that puts out 20.4bhp. That said, the motorcycle is pretty light with a kerb weight of 160kg. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch spoke wheels that further add retro appeal to the motorcycle. Suspension duties are handled by inverted forks and a monoshock with preload adjustability. Interestingly, the GPX GTM250R also gets radially mounted discs at the front, which is rare in this segment.

While the retro motorcycle looks interesting, it will not make its way to India. However, it will compete against the Yamaha XSR 155 which also comes with a retro café racer kit.
