TVS recently launched the updated Apache RTR 160 in India. It looks pretty similar to the previous iteration, but some notable changes have been made to the overall package. Let’s look at what’s different between the old and the new models.
Design
The old and the new Apache RTR 160 look identical but differ in paint schemes and graphics. Moreover, unlike the older model's bulb unit, the new model also gets a tweaked headlight and taillight with LED illumination. It even gets an extra tank panel for the visual mass.
Features
TVS is now offering the Apache RTR 160 with a lot more features than before. The bike comes with a fully digital instrument console, ride modes, and Bluetooth connectivity as well. However, the ride modes are standard throughout the range (drum and disc) but the SmartXonnect is only available on the top-spec version. The latter gives you access to turn-by-turn navigation, call and notification alerts and voice assist too.
Motor
The previous iteration of the TVS Apache RTR 160 was powered by 160cc single-cylinder two-valve air-cooled engine with the output rated at 15.31bhp and 13.9Nm. The updated version has the same setup but dishes out 15.82bhp and 13.85NM. That’s 0.51bhp more and 0.05Nm less than before. It’s mated to the same five-speed gearbox.
Tyres
TVS has equipped the updated Apache RTR 160 with 120mm tyres on both ends instead of the previous 110mm units that we saw at the bike’s rear wheel.
Price
The older TVS Apache RTR 160 was priced at Rs 1,13,740 (ex-showroom Delhi) for the drum brake model and Rs 1,16,740 (ex-showroom Delhi) for the disc brake model. Meanwhile, the updated model retails at Rs 1,17,790 for the drum brake model with ride modes and Rs 1,21,290, Rs 1,24,590 (both ex-showroom Delhi) for the disc brake model and disc brake with SmartXonnect, respectively.
