Hero Maestro Edge 110 Summary

Hero Maestro Edge 110 is a scooter available at a starting price of Rs. 73,843 in India. It is available in 3 variants and 7 colours with top variant price starting from Rs. 77,981. The Maestro Edge 110 is powered by 110.9cc BS6 engine which develops a power of 8 bhp and a torque of 8.75 Nm. With both front and rear drum brakes, Hero Maestro Edge 110 comes up with combined braking system of both wheels. This Maestro Edge 110 scooter weighs 112 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 5 liters.

The Maestro Edge 110 is an everyday family scooter, while also bringing in a touch of jazz and boldness to the table. With its large and edgy body panels, it is mainly targeted at male riders. And the fancy graphics on the latest model further enhance its visual appeal.

Powering the Maestro Edge is a 110.9cc, air-cooled engine which is now BS6-compliant and churns out 8bhp at 7,500rpm and 8.75Nm at 5,500rpm. While the power figures are closely similar to its BS4 counterpart, Hero says the new model delivers better fuel economy and acceleration.

The Maestro Edge has a host of features like a USB charging port, an under-seat storage lamp, engine immobiliser, an external fuel lid, an LED taillamp, and a linked braking system. The instrument cluster gets a new design with an integrated digital display. There are a host of practical bits too, like a front luggage hook, a massive 22-litre under-seat storage compartment, and a front storage box.

The front 12-inch alloy wheel is shod with a 90/90 profile tubeless tyre and rides on an offset telescopic suspension setup while the rear 10-inch alloy wheel gets a 90/100 profile tyre with a conventional swingarm linked monoshock. Stopping power comes from a drum brake at both ends.

Hero is offering the Maestro Edge 110 in a choice of eight colours- Midnight Blue, Seal Silver, Candy Blazing Red, Pearl Fadeless White, Panther Black, and Techno Blue and a Limited-Edition Red. It competes against the Honda Activa 6G, Suzuki Access 125, and the TVS Jupiter.

Hero MotoCorp has updated the colour palette with the addition of the Scarlet Red paint option. This colour option features a red shade to the front apron, fender, and footboard panel. The rear section of the scooter, on the other hand, gets a matte black colour with red, blue, and grey highlights. Apart from adding this new paint option, Hero MotoCorp has also added the option of a disc brake to the 110cc scooter.

BikeWale's Take

The Maestro Edge belongs to Hero's new range of products that have been designed and developed in-house by the company. It is a stylish looking scooter with several creature comforts, comfortable suspension setup and a good motor offering as nice premium poackage.

Hero Maestro Edge 110 Expert Opinion

Scooters mean serious business in India. And the new Maestro Edge from Hero MotoCorp is an example of that same business need. It is stylish, utilitarian, practical and fuel efficient and has been launched to make a dent in the sales of the Honda Activa , which is getting impressive month after month.  Also, the Maestro Edge is Hero’s first scooter that has been developed completely in-house and of course, with the help of its technology partners.

What is it?

Scooters mean serious business in India. And the new Maestro Edge from Hero MotoCorp is an example of that same business need. It is stylish, utilitarian, practical and fuel efficient and has been launched to make a dent in the sales of the Honda Activa , which is getting impressive month after month.  Also, the Maestro Edge is Hero’s first scooter that has been developed completely in-house and of course, with the help of its technology partners.

How does it ride?

The frame of the Maestro Edge has been developed from ground up. That means, everything is new on this scooter and the result is quite evident on the performance and cosmetic front. Riding it on the city roads is a breeze. The suspension setup is quite soft, and handles the bumps very pleasantly. And with a kerb weight of 110kg, flicking the Maestro Edge in Mumbai traffic was an easy task. The scooter gets a 12-inch wheel at the front and 10-inch at the rear, which rides on tubeless tyres. They offer good grip, but aren’t very inspiring on wet roads.

Like we mentioned in the introduction, the Maestro Edge is powered by a new 110cc engine that produces 8.31bhp at 8000rpm and peak torque of 8.30Nm at 6500rpm. This engine is mated to a CVT gearbox, which is pretty smooth. The new engine is refined, smooth and honestly, one of the best ones in the segment. Open the throttle and you will notice that the scooter isn’t quick at the initial revs. That’s because the engine has been tuned to deliver the best fuel efficiency which Hero claims to be at 65.8kmpl. But our fuel efficiency test stood at 51.3kmpl. The sluggish feel stays till about 25kmph-30kmph and once you cross that, the scooter performs satisfactorily.

Our test bike had a slight vibration on the floorboard between 50kmph and 55kmph.  While the overall engine characteristics of the Maestro Edge are good and appreciable and is highly competitive, it does lose out due to the lack of initial punch.  The integrated braking system works really well and even after trying hard to lock the rear wheel, the scooter performed efficiently.

Anything else I should know?

The Maestro Edge is one attractive scooter. While the design language of the bike is quite similar to the Maestro, Hero has given it a more sharp and aggressive touch. And we aren’t complaining. The fascia gets an attractive headlamp design with two big side indicators and this takes up majority of the front fascia. The V-shaped front design also adds little bulk to the scooter and I think that has worked well for the Maestro Edge. Also, don’t forget to look at the rear-view mirror from the front because the black-silver colour combination genuinely looks nice.

The side profile exudes a balanced look with a sharp design but with curves in the right places. The Maestro Edge 3D emblem on one side adds to the premium feel of the scooter. However, you will find it only on one side which is a slight turnoff. On the other hand, the company has gone bonkers with the exhaust design, something we haven’t seen on any mass market scooter in India. The tail section, for me, is the best looking feature of the Maestro Edge. The large LED tail light assembly does a very good job of turning heads, especially, when it’s lit. You should also know that the instrument cluster of the scooter is really good in terms of features as well as the quality of components used on it. For storage, you have the under seat space, where you can keep your scooter documents along with a small bag. It can also eat up a half-face helmet. We tested the VX version and that came with the glove box and a luggage hook at the front and below the seat. The LX version loses out on the glove box as well as the hook below the seat.

For someone who is colour conscious, Hero is offering the Maestro Edge in seven colours – techno blue, shooting night star, matte blue, matt vernie grey, panther black, candy blazing red and pearl silver white.

Why should I buy one?

Are you bored of the looks of the current scooters? Do you want something fresh and attractive? If the answers to both the questions are yes, then the Maestro Edge will fit the bill. The scooter offers great styling, very good quality and is extremely fuel efficient too. Also, don’t forget the service reach of Hero MotoCorp along with a five years warranty. It doesn’t just stop there. The Maestro Edge is equipped with an external fuel filling cap, which is covered and can be opened by twisting the key to the right on the ignition system. And the list goes on with a USB mobile charging point and boot light, which are placed under the seat.

Where does it fit in?

With a price tag of Rs 50,700 (ex-showroom Delhi), the Maestro Edge is Rs 2,650 more expensive than the Maestro. In fact, the Maestro Edge is Rs 1,183 expensive than the segment leader – the Honda Activa 3G as well. It also demands Rs 2,711 more than the TVS Jupiter and Rs 2,595 more than the Yamaha Ray. So basically, it’s the most expensive scooter in its segment but worth it.

My honest review: i ride this scooty for everyday shopping, but unfortunately this scooty suffers me a lot. Whenever you go to a place you must have the trust to the start up of your vehicle atleast but this scooty can neither be trusted nor suitable for long journeys. Now i am looking for service centers for it's maintainance.

      Not worth it!

      Sandeep

The battery experience as well as the low mileage are the biggest culprits. Regret buying this. Have changed battery thrice in 4 yrs. Mileage was never more than 32 km/l (that's the maximum figure and not an average) for the 1st three years. In the 4th year it's giving a mileage of around 40 km/l average.
The service provided in my city has been horrible, with one instance of returning 3 times to the workshop after the day of regular periodic maintenance coz the bike wouldn't start. Happened on 2 separate occasions, but yeah the service in other workshops could differ.

Best scooter for daily rides with best specs in reasonable price

      Hans Raj

The buying experience is good. The dealers are very compatible to deal..
The riding experience is the best among any other scooters. No vibrations at all. Pickup is great..
It looks premium from the back and front without the steel protection....
Performance is good. Suspension quality is great on highways and even on the city and rough roads.
Servicing experience is good but my local service center is not giving customer satisfaction.
Maintaining the vehicle is way more compatible than other scooters..
It gives a good mileage 45 km/l in the city....
The brake quality is good but also better....

      Best scooty for long trips

      Suraj Sarkar

I have been riding this scooty for a very long time since my father purchased the first in 2017. I love the pickup of the scooty and its riding comfort. I travel a very long distance from my home to Guwahati 225 km . And I have traveled very long trips with the maestro. I have never faced any issues.
That is the reason why I recommend you buy the maestro edge.
Advantages: I already mentioned in detail
Disadvantages: the mileage of the scooty disappointed me it gives 35-44 between.

Disappointed Maestro Edge 110 Owner - A Comprehensive Review

      Naman

I purchased the Hero Maestro Edge 110 back in 2016, and I must say, my experience with this scooter has been nothing short of disappointing. From the buying process to the overall ownership, there are several areas where the Maestro Edge 110 falls short of my expectations.
**Buying Experience:** The buying experience was relatively hassle-free, with a friendly and knowledgeable salesperson guiding me through the process. However, it was only after the purchase that I realized that I may have made a grave mistake.
**Riding Experience:** The riding experience on the Maestro Edge 110 has been a mixed bag. On the positive side, it's a comfortable scooter with a smooth ride, thanks to the telescopic front suspension. However, the performance leaves much to be desired. The scooter struggles to pick up speed, especially when there's a pillion rider. It feels underpowered, and overtaking on highways is a nerve-wracking experience.
      **Pros:**
      1. Comfortable ride: The Maestro Edge 110 offers a comfortable and smooth ride.
      2. Telescopic front suspension: The front suspension is a pro as it enhances the scooter's stability.
      **Cons:**
      1. Underpowered: The scooter lacks the power needed for confident city and highway riding.
      2. Poor fuel efficiency: The fuel economy is far from what was promised at the time of purchase.
      3. High maintenance costs: Regular servicing and maintenance come at a steep price.
      4. Unreliable service centers: Finding a trustworthy Hero service center has been a challenge, and the quality of service often leaves much to be desired.
**Servicing and Maintenance:** The scooter's servicing and maintenance have been a constant source of frustration. Not only is it expensive, but I've had issues with parts availability, and the quality of service is inconsistent at best.
**Looks and Performance:** In terms of looks, the Maestro Edge 110 scores well with its stylish design and a variety of color options. However, these aesthetic features fail to compensate for its lackluster performance.
In summary, my experience as a Hero Maestro Edge 110 owner has been deeply unsatisfying. The scooter may have some pros, like comfort and design, but the cons far outweigh these positives, with issues related to power, fuel efficiency, maintenance, and servicing. I would caution potential buyers to explore other options in the market before settling for the Maestro Edge 110. It's a case of style over substance, and it falls short of delivering the quality and performance expected from a reputable brand like Hero.
