Yamaha has launched the 2013 FZ1 – the eldest sibling of the FZ series that has bikes like FZ6 and FZ16. The FZ1 is powered by a DOHC fuel injected 998cc four cylinder engine and is designed to handle sporty riding as well as provide mid-range power for high-speed cruising.
Yamaha has used the engine as a component of the suspension in the new version. This has allowed them to make the bike lighter and more agile without sacrificing stability and handling. The company has also fitted the bike with a fully adjustable 43mm inverted fork and a single shock with adjustable preload and rebound damping.
Additional features on the faired rocket from Yamaha include low fuel warning light, integrated passenger grab rails and an analogue tachometer with a digital speedometer. There are also three-way honeycomb catalyzers with an oxygen sensor to control emissions.
The 2013 Yamaha FZ1 has been priced at 10,790 US Dollars (Rs 5.78 lakh – of course sans customs duty which propels it’s price to seven-digit figure) and comes with a one year limited factory warranty.
