TVS Motors to pass on GST benefits to customers

TVS Motors has emerged as the latest two-wheeler manufacturer who will soon pass on GST benefits to its customers. The price reduction will however vary from state to state and it is likely to be significant. Until now, it was Bajaj Auto, Royal Enfield, Kawasaki and UM Motorcycles who had announced a price cut ahead of GST implementation from 1 July 2017.

Under GST, a majority of two wheelers will soon attract a tax rate of 28 per cent as against the current 30 per cent. However, bikes over350cc will attract an additional cess of three per cent which takes the total tax to 31 per cent. TVS Motors has pretty much escaped the radar as it has been offering products with engine capacity between 100cc-200cc in the country. This allows the manufacturer to pass on considerable benefits to its customers in a price sensitive market like ours.

The revised prices will be rolled out over next few days and we can expect TVS to offer considerable discounts across its product range in India.
