- Sports scrambler inspired styling.
- Powered by a 249cc, single-cylinder engine.
- Likely to arrive next year priced around Rs 2 lakhs.
Italian manufacturer, Benelli has showcased the Leoncino 250 at the on-going Thai Motor Expo 2018. The bike was earlier unveiled at the 2017 EICMA.
The Leoncino 250 borrows its name and scrambler-like design from its bigger sibling, the Leoncino 500. It gets a full-LED lighting in an oval headlamp cowl as compared to the circular unit on the 500. The bike also gets the distinctive tank design built on a steel trellis frame.
It is powered by a 249cc, single-cylinder engine that puts out 25.8bhp and 21.2Nm of torque and is mated to a six-speed gearbox and final chain drive. Suspension duties are looked after by 41mm inverted front forks and a monoshock at the rear. Meanwhile the Leoncino 250 comes to a stop using a 280mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc with ABS as standard. The 17-inch alloy wheels are fitted with a 110/70 and 150/60 tyre for the front and rear respectively. And with a fuel tank capacity of 14-litres, the Leoncino 250 has a kerb weight of 153kg.
We can expect Benelli to launch the Leoncino 250 in India sometime next year with a price tag of around Rs 2 lakhs. While the bike does not have any direct competition in the Indian market currently, it will compete against the Husqvarna twins when they arrive early next year.
