Harley-Davidson is all set to hop on the bandwagon of electrification with an array of electric two-wheelers. The Livewire electric cruiser has been grabbing the headlines ever since it was showcased in the concept form, back in 2014. Accompanying it in the near future will be more products in Harley’s electric portfolio, two concepts of which have now been revealed at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas.
These concepts look like they have come straight out of the future. One of them is essentially an MTB (mountain bicycle) with an electric motor strapped on to it. It consists of dual-purpose tyres wrapped around large spoke wheels along with the prominent frame and minimal, flat tracker-like panels. This might later transform into a nimble and lean off-road electric motorcycle for the adventure junkies.
The other, though, is a relaxed, commuter-ish bike with a high-set handlebar, single seat and a long footboard. It also incorporates round LED headlamp and under-seat tail lamp with spoke wheels shod with slick tyres. The hollow space below the seat might make way for storage space on the production version in order to raise its everyday usability quotient.
Harley-Davidson has neither revealed any technical details about the concepts nor their names. Going by the company’s plans of introducing a line-up of electric two-wheelers by 2020, we might see details about these bikes emerging next year.
