Ducati unveils the 2015 Diavel at the Geneva Motor Show

Ducati has finally taken the wraps off the 2015 Diavel at the Geneva Motor Show. The Italian maker has done more than just cosmetic changes to this sports cruiser but has retained the original devlish line.

The 2015 Diavel gets many updates with the major one being an updated Testastretta engine that gets dual sparkplugs in each four-valve head. Revised intake and exhaust ports are also a part of the  ‘not-so minor’ update.  The power figure of this new Diavel remains same at 162bhp but it peaks at 9,250rpm rather than 9,500rpm. Peak torque stands at 130Nm, 2.2 Nm more than the old Diavel. It also gets a new exhaust system which has lost some weight and looks thinner than the previous one.

Cosmetically, the major change is the new LED headlamp. Ducati has taken this step to match it with the twin LED vertical strip at the back which serves as turn light and taillight. The motorcycle gets the latest technology – Ducati Traction Control (DTC), ABS and Ducati riding modes.

The 2015 Diavel will be available in three colour options; black which is the base model, Carbon version which has two colour options– the Ducati red and matte carbon with red frame, or the new Carbon White, with white and matte carbon and a white frame.

Ducati is expected to makes its official presence in India sometime this year. This new Diavel might follow after the Monster 1200 is launched in India. Ducati has always demanded premium over other ‘regular’ premium motorcycles but when it comes to servicing, the interval is every 15,000 kms unlike other motorcycles. So in a way, the price is justified, but we would love to see the prices coming down from the current range.

Stay tuned to BikeWale as we get you more details on Ducati’s Indian development.
