Ducati Malaysia has widened its range of Monster series by launching the Monster 796 S2R at RM 64,888 (Rs 11.95 lakh). The Italian manufacturer launched the Monster 796 S2R at Sepang during the Malaysian MotoGP, which was also the venue for the third Asia Ducati Week.
At the heart of the Monster 796 S2R is an 803cc L-Twin Desmodue 796 engine. This air cooled unit churns out 87bhp and 78Nm of torque through a six-speed transmission. Braking hardware includes twin 320mm semi-floating discs at the front and a 245mm disc in the rear. ABS is offered as a standard fitment. Suspension duties are performed by 43mm Showa forks at the front and a Sachs monoshock unit linked to a single-sided rear swing arm.
The Monster S2R has been dressed up in a white and racing red paint scheme, with red alloy wheels and red stitching on the seat to match the paint work. The handlebar and the forks get a black finish. A small fairing above the oval headlamp unit adds to the charm of the Monster 796 S2R.
Like other motorcycles in the company’s range, the Monster 796 S2R is manufactured in Thailand and imported to Malaysia through the completely knocked down route. Ducati is planning to sell more than 1,000 motorcycles in Malaysia, this year and the Monster 796 S2R, with its crisp new paint scheme and refreshed looks is expected to help the company achieve this target.
