Bajaj has claimed an average of 96.9kmpl for the Platina ES, theoretically making it the most fuel-efficient motorcycle in Indian market. The Platina ES is a top-end variant of the Platina commuter motorcycle series, which was recently launched in India at Rs 45,431 (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
While the new Platina ES retains the tubular single down tube frame architecture of the standard Platina, it is powered by a different 102cc DTS-I engine with an ExhausTEC system. The engine delivers 8.1bhp and 8.63Nm of torque through a four-speed gearbox. And though the power figures are similar to that of the standard Platina, the Platina ES comes with an ARAI certified efficiency figure of 96.9kmpl.
The Platina ES also gets basic cosmetic upgrades like a revised headlamp cowl and side panels, a new chrome heat shield on the silencer and three new paint schemes – ebony black, electron blue and candy red. The Platina ES competes with other 100cc commuter motorcycles like the Hero Splendor Plus, Suzuki Hayate, Honda Dream Neo and the TVS Star City Plus.
