KTM breaks its sales record in 2014

Austrian motorcycle manufacturer, KTM, has broken its all-time personal sales record by selling 1,58,760 motorcycles in 2014. The company has also reported a 20.7 per cent increase in its revenue. These numbers show a 28.2 per cent increase in annual sales for the company, though these numbers do include Husqvarna’s contribution.

KTM’s association with Indian the two-wheeler giant, Bajaj Auto, in the recent years has given the Austrian manufacturer an edge to help it compete with other major motorcycle manufacturers. Bajaj’s expertise in low-cost manufacturing technologies has helped KTM enhance its productivity, while keeping the prices very competitive.

While a majority of KTM models are manufactured in the company’s main factory in Mattighofen, Austria, the small capacity Duke and the RC models are produced at Bajaj’s factory in Chakan, Pune. These two models are targeted at emerging markets and are the biggest contributors in terms of volume.

KTM hopes to boost its annual sales figures to 2,50,000 units by 2020 and by the way things are is progressing, it seems like the company is on track of meeting this target.
