My duke is my first partner in crime!!

Duke 200 is probably in the same league with duke 390. If you are kind of person who wants to improve over time, and doesn't want to settle, just go for it. I bet if you're persistent enough you might end up on a 800-900 cc middle weight bike within 5 years, when you first get hold of duke 200. No other thing like this is there in the market so far.Just no shortage of performance, cruises extremely well on the highways at about 90-110 km/h, still I found enough grunt in the engine to easily cross 120 km/h to keep up with fast traffic or even make a quick overtake in the 6th gear itself. But please don't push it beyond that. I found it's a matured machine which has the ability to train you, extend a helping hand, so that you can fulfill your dream of becoming a pro-biker. Having said so, it packs all the fun factors still under its sleeve to excite you.I was looking for a bike which can turn me into a true motorcyclist and after a good research I decided to try this new duke from ktm. Duke 200 have always been the flagship model of ktm in India. But oh man, Even after gaining about 12 kg extra weight and adapting to bs vi norms when all other bikes are struggling to keep their horses harnessed, ktm managed to keep this teenage duke as exciting as it should be. I pushed my machine to great lengths only to discover that i still have a lot of things to learn from it.Duke is definitely a head turner, people will notice you and so the cops! I have the orange colored one.. Fab!!!Learn high speed cruising, filtering through traffic efficiently, slow speed throttle and clutch modulation, pro U-turn skills and this duke will always be there with you... Snappy engine? yes! lots of engine braking? yes! heating? ya..Normal. But no fear. I don't think that ktm engines will fall apart or catch fire! these are no real problems, rather fancy of those people who simply scare away from managing 25 horses under a lightweight, nimble, truly sporty and composed chassis. Come on! don't scrap your big bike dream my friend! In terms of fuel costs, it'll not make you feel down, gives a mileage of about 30kpl easily. Services are quick and easy, and once the first year's services are over you have to visit only once in a year or at every 7.5k km approx. It also gives you the opportunity to learn how to keep your machine in good condition, and do a little bit of stuff yourself. Really well built and easy upkeep. Once I had faced ignition issue due to electronic error, but it resolved automatically after i restarted the bike after a couple of minutes. I dropped it 5-6 times doing slow off-road stuff.. But still no problems at all!My duke is my first partner in crime!! above all. Like any other capable motorcycle, it'll take you to places and weave a new meaning of freedom in your life. Nearly half of 6k km on my odo records touring. Most of my tours are solo rides.. And i trust my machine without a second thought. Look after it and it'll look after you! happy dukedom folks!!

Tips for other riders
Do take periodic maintenance seriously. It's normally once in a year. I still have my bike tyres, brake pads and chain in good condition. If you're are high speed rider or riding in rainy condition, lube your chain at every 250-300 km, otherwise 400-500 km is fine. Service staff will help you keep the chain tension and right.

Well, it's my first bike though kinda tough for beginners but the experience is awesome, those who love the fun and power can go for it. And people will notice you. You can also change the rpm limit by visiting any ktm service center and i can say that may be this is not for those who are looking for mileage.

Try to do servicing time to time and don't go for local servicing, always go to ktm service center. The price is high but remember your bike is more valuable
