In our review of Helstons Sonny Mesh riding jacket – which you can read HERE - we told you all about Helstons as a brand, and of course, about MotoPoto, the people who are officially selling Helstons motorcycle gear in India. Now, we have their motorcycle riding denims called Helstons Corden Stone.

Why riding denims?

There’s no doubt that leather with the right CE protection is the best protection you can give yourself when on a motorcycle. But, this is also a function of where, how, and what you ride.

For instance, in congested cities where speeds rarely exceed 80kmph; temperatures rarely drop under the high thirties (Celsius); and humidity is almost always high enough for your colleagues to equate your body odour to smelly socks, leather is the worst you can do. It’s better then to ride in something that breathes better, weighs less, and of course, doesn’t look completely out of place.

And, that’s why riding denims or jeans, matched with a mesh jacket, make all the sense in the world for our city motorcyclists!

The Corden Stone

These look like your regular pair of denims, which is a huge plus if you are going to wear them to work everyday. These fit like any straight-cut jeans, come with regular jeans pockets, and are of the button-fly variety.

But, that’s where the similarities end. The Helstons denims come with CE protection for the knees and hips that can be easily removed when you want to wash them. The Corden Stone – unlike most other riding pants – skips Kevlar and uses 20 per cent Cordura to resist abrasion. Otherwise, there’s 50 per cent cotton for lighter weight and better breathability, and the rest is polyester to give it stretch for a better fit.
