Bajaj launched its new entry-level commuter bike – the Platina 110 Comfortec in India. It will be the predecessor to the Platina Comfortec 100cc version with a bigger engine, anti-skid braking, gas-charged rear shock absorber and new set of decals. Priced at Rs 49,453 (ex-showroom, Kolkata), the motorcycle is now around Rs 2000 expensive.
Look-wise, the motorcycle is same as the Platina 100cc except for the refreshed graphics which are similar to the new Discover 110. Bajaj recently updated the Platina Comfortec with LED DRL which has been retained on this as well.
The powerplant of the new Platina 110 Comfortec is the same mill which does duty on the Discover 110. The 115cc, air-cooled, DTS-i engine is mated to a four-speed gearbox and produces 8.6bhp of power and 9.81Nm of torque. The Platina Comfortec 100cc generates 8.1bhp and 8.6Nm.
Apart from the engine, Bajaj has upgraded the braking setup of the Platina with the anti-skid braking (same as combi-braking system). This reduces the skidding of tyres during emergency braking. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks on the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear which are now gas-charged.
Bajaj will continue selling the older Platina Comfortec 100cc version until the stocks last. It competes with the Honda CD 110 Dream, Mahindra Centuro, Suzuki Hayate EP and the TVS Star City Plus.
