The TVS iQube range finally saw the addition of the ST variant to its portfolio. The iQube ST is the top-spec of the electric scooter and while TVS showcased it last year, it is now on sale at a starting price of Rs 1.55 lakh, ex-showroom, Bengaluru. The iQube ST is available in two variants- 3.4kWh and 5.1kWh. Here are the top five highlights of the scooter.
Design
The TVS iQube looks plain, and simple yet elegant. After all, the iQube is designed to appeal to the ‘family scooter’ buyer who wants an inoffensive design. TVS hasn’t made any visual changes to the design of the iQube ST and it looks identical to the rest of the variants, save for the ‘ST’ stickers on the side panels.
The neat design aside, the quality levels of the TVS iQube are top-notch. From the paint finish to the switchgear and the crispness of the TFT display, the scooter is well built in typical TVS fashion.
Features
Electric scooters these days are loaded with a lot of features. The TVS iQube in the ST trim is no exception. It has a 7-inch, colour TFT touchscreen display, Bluetooth connectivity and navigation, TPMS, connected features, and 32 litres of boot space. These features put it at par with competitors like the Ola S1 range.
Motor and battery
The iQube ST has a 4.4kW BLDC hub motor which produces 33Nm rated torque. However, the big talking point of the ‘ST’ variant is the battery pack options. The iQube ST with the 3.4kWh battery has a claimed real-world range of 100km. The time taken to charge from 0-80 percent is 2 hours and 50 minutes.
For those looking for a scooter with more range, the 5.1kWh battery pack variant should suffice. It has a claimed real-world range of 150km which should be more than enough to last an average home-office-home commute for at least two to three days.
As for the time required to charge the big battery, it takes 4 hours and 18 minutes to add juice from 0-80 percent.
Hardware
The iQube ST has a tubular frame that is suspended by a telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers at the rear. The scooter rides on 12-inch wheels and has a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear.
Price
The iQube ST is among the most expensive electric scooters on the market. The 3.4kWh and 5.1kWh variants are priced at Rs 1.55 lakh and Rs 1.83 lakh, respectively. These prices are ex-showroom, Bangalore.
In comparison, its rival Ather Rizta’s prices begin from Rs 1.10 lakh and go up to Rs 1.44 lakh, ex-showroom, in Bangalore.
