More Bajaj Pulsar 400 versions in pipeline

- Bajaj intends to grow its market share in the segment

- Holds 20-25 per cent market share right now

- Next could be a faired version

While the ‘Z’ suffix in the name of the Pulsar NS400Z was already hinting towards an expansion of Bajaj’s 400cc line-up, we got a clearer confirmation on the same at the first ride event of the biggest Pulsar. We will see more Pulsar 400s gracing the Indian two-wheeler market soon.

The Dominar 400 was launched back in 2016 and it took Bajaj eight years to come up with the second product, the Pulsar NS400Z, based on this platform. However, going forward, Bajaj will certainly be more proactive and go aggressive with expanding its flagship line of bikes. Backing this information is Rajiv Bajaj’s recent statement affirming the brand’s intention to grow their market share in this segment. Bajaj Auto, along with its sister brands including KTM, Triumph, and Husqvarna, has a market share of 20-25 per cent in the 300-400cc segment which it intends to grow up to 80 per cent.

At present, there’s no concrete information on which type of 400cc Bajaj will bring next. Looking at the existing popularity and demand of the Pulsar RS200, the brand might come up with a faired version of the Pulsar NS400Z. Moreover, we believe the company will want a pie of the fast-growing adventure touring segment and introduce a 400cc ADV in the future. In fact, Bajaj might go ahead with resurrecting the AS brand which was discontinued a few years ago.

In other news, Bajaj is also working on an updated version of the Dominar 400 which will be lighter in weight. It might also get more features, perhaps borrowed from the new NS400Z which is the most feature-packed offering to have come out of Bajaj’s stable yet.
