The Yamaha YZF-R3 is Yamaha’s response to the likes of the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and KTM RC390. Now, however, the Ninja 400 has made its debut, and the Honda CBR250RR and CBR300R are all giving it stiff competition globally. There aren’t any mechanical changes to the 2018 R3 other than the updation to BS4 emission norms, but new colour schemes (blue and black) and the addition of ABS have made it better value. However, it doesn’t offer upside-down front forks or an all-digital instrument cluster like the R15 V3 offers. On the other hand, it still has the sweet 41bhp, 321cc parallel-twin engine and the handling that can bring any man to his knee.
The YZF-R3 competes with the Kawasaki Ninja 300, Benelli 302R, and KTM RC390 in the Indian market. The Honda CBR250R will also be a competitor when launched.
At its launch price of Rs 3.48 lakh, it undercuts the Kawasaki Ninja 300 by Rs 12,000 and offers ABS as well, as well as a higher peak power figure. It is now the twin-cylinder sportbike to beat in the Indian market.
The average of the YZF R3 is 25 kmpl, as per the owners of the bike.

R3: Beast in the segment
Sagar Suman Panda
- Buying Experience: Smooth process at authorized dealerships. - Riding Experience: Thrilling with a powerful 321cc engine, balanced for city and highway rides.- Looks: Sporty, aggressive design with modern aesthetics.- Performance: Strong initial, mid-range, and top-end power from the parallel-twin engine. Best in the segment -Servicing/Maintenance: Reliable options, scheduled services, and genuine spare parts are available.-Pros&Cons: Most powerful and only twin-cylinder in the 300cc segment in India. Unbeatable in both the initial and top-end. Feels a bit overpriced.

The best 300 I would say!!

This bike is a gem. It offers the best things of its rivals, refinement of the ninja 300 and almost the same power as 390s. Being in a 300cc segment it offers a better pick-up than a ninja and better cruising speed, top end with less stress compared to the 390s. Cons: built quality is not great as the ktms, and all parts won't be readily available in service centers.

Change the oil every 3000 km. Try to use 140 tyres to make the speedo more accurate. Please maintain this beauty clean, it never disappoints you.
