I don't want to mention the above things. Just think that the szr bike manufacturing was stopped after 1 and half year of launching of bike. Now we are not getting spare parts of it facing very problem to maintain bike due to non availability of spare parts. If comes to mileage it is 153cc bike and its mileage is less than royal enfield....

I love my yamaha sz r because its is perfect for me , its grip on road is too good, its mileage is almost 45+, if somebody ask me which bike to buy i told them yamaha sz r only. After 5+ year this bike a looking almost new due to its color & design, its spare is also available in local market easily.

I have been using this since 2012 dec and still using it even after discontinuation, as everything has pro's and con's i would like to list pro's first:* subtle looking with tall stance, * drivability and road grip is good in any stretch of roads, * ample power for city and flickering is easy,* average mileage would be 40+ * low cost maintenance.Cons:-* very less torque and lots of gear shifts required* lack of spare parts for replacement * resale value is very low compared to its competitor unicorn.

  • Good bike. Awesome riding experience.

    Padmakar Patil

I bought yamaha sz-r in december 2011. I liked its sporty look and decided to buy it. Feels very comfortable while riding. Overall riding experience is awesome. Bike performance is good. I have many long rides since its purchase. From mumbai (kalyan) to ratnagiri (approx. 800 km), mumbai (kalyan) to mahabaleshwar (approx. 700 km) and mumbai (kalyan) to nashik-shirdi (approx. 700 km). I drove all the distance by my own and still didn't feel any back pain or any other pain. Previous bike is used caused me back pain. So i consider sz-r is good for riding. My daily travel is around 20 km. I am getting mileage of 40-45 km in city and 45-50 km for long distance. It lacks kick start. Head light is also not powerful. Battery got damaged after 18 months. I changed battery with exide. Now running good till date. After 5 years bike start to give problems. Both front and rear suspension got damaged. Both the tyres also got damaged. Getting puncture is every 6 months and lost its shape and grip. I changed them with ceat tyres. No puncture since then till date. Compared to the performance of other bikes for same period, i think my bike sz-r is still good enough.I always wanted to have a clock in odometer and some space below the seat to keep some stuff.

  • An average family bike

    Mahadev Shankar Roy

Riding is fine as far as you do not go beyond 80kmph. The bike is able to reach 115kmph without a pillion crouched down. But at that point you will feel how hard the bike struggles to maintain the speed. Untill 80 kmph the bike is able to hold speeds for long commutes. You will feel that the bike lacks a 6th gear on the highway. I haven't tested the mileage but i believe it returns about 45-50 kmpl.

The downside is that there is no kill-switch. It even lacks a pass light.

I have faced the issue of the speedometer cable getting ripped every 500 km i drove. Replacing it is a waste of time and you won't be able to keep the correct odometer reading.

  • A decent bike in its Class

    Prashanth

I just completed 1,00,000 kms on my sz r. I had bought this in 2011. It is a decent bike with a very good road grip, very less maintenance, only major things i replaced during this time was chain sprocket(thrice), tyres, battery and brake disc. A very satisfying experience, but for mileage.....It hardly used to be 35-40 kmpl, though in city conditions. It would also struggle to go past 80 kmph, though with good acceleration ... Even after completing 100000 kms. But only recently problems with front suspension has started...Now i am feeling disappointed that as i am looking for a replacement the resale value of this bike is very very low....Overall a very reliable bike ... A good robust design.

Buying experience was bad i did not received ,the color i ordered, but i was forgiven them dealer shinrai yamaha(erna kulam). Riding experience in szr was straight road was ok, climbing hilly roads even worse, though initial pick up good, after that it runs like a old bull cart, when we reach top gear 5th it is a panter ,no way in India we can ride more 15 mins in top gear unless you are travelling in national high way. Looks of the bike was average, performance good initial pickup and great sound from silencer, rest are very terrible no mileage 50 to drop off 25kmpl in one year, service of yamaha ok , costly parts we have make lot of arguments then they warranty of 1 year. Pros- less price,, sports look, less weight .Cons -very bad mileage, less power, higher maintenance.

Yamaha engine can even run on bad spark plugs and the wear tear of clutch plate is not felt since engine refinement and power delivery remain undisturbed due to awesome engineering. So whoever is getting less mileage on szr fz or any Yamaha bike, just changing the spark plug and setting carburetor freshly and if required changing the air filter can get mileage above 45 easily.

In 2013 I bought the Yamaha Sz-r bike. Overall the bike's performance is amazing. The long drive is superb with decent mileage. The sitting position is very good. I feel like riding a horse. The shock absorber is good. Rear drum brake and front disc brakes are very smooth. The pickup is very good. I love it.

    Mahesh

I don't want to mention the above things. Just think that the szr bike manufacturing was stopped after 1 and half year of launching of bike. Now we are not getting spare parts of it facing very problem to maintain bike due to non availability of spare parts. If comes to mileage it is 153cc bike and its mileage is less than royal enfield....
