Starting with the buying experience, even though it's been less than 3 months since i've owned this bike, this bike has some vibration issues beyond 60kmph, it feels less powerful than other bikes in this segment, however i like this bike alot, it's got a nice pickup and riding is comfortable with an up-straight stance and straight handle bars, seat height is quite high but eventually i got accustomed to it, Pros: Great fuel efficiency, styling is way better than others in this segment, sound is quite soothing and it feels much like a 150cc bike than 125cc while riding, I love the horn alot because it has a capability to make others move out of your way. I've been enjoying this bike, no doubt about that though.

Superb experience, beyond expectation... Everything is perfect. Mileage, riding experience everything is awesome. Ground clearance is more than other bikes which is good. I got 50 to 60 km/lit. Which is very impressive for125cc bike. I am fully satisfied with this bike....

Everything is perfect about this bike, till now 2600 km. Awesome average 65 to 70. Love it once it gets into form after 2 km from start in the morning. Look and colour option is best in its segment of 125 cc. Love this bike in its segment. I went forward for honda shine and hero but this was different from others which are plying for so long. A change was my thought and i got it with this bike.

    thank you.

Saluto was my first bike. The only bike in its segment with good looks, features, less price & most importantly mileage. The first thing any middle class person will prefer is high mileage from his bike in college days. I used this bike around two and a half year then i gave it to my uncle so now he uses for his daily commute. To be honest i am around 6 feet tall and saluto doesn't suit me so i switched to pulsar 220. So if you are a tall guy i recommend you not to invest in this bike. But if you are looking for mileage its the perfect bike for you. When i was using the bike it used to return me about 65kmpl which is now degraded to around 62-63kmpl after so much of use which is not bad. If we talk about the looks, its quite simple but way better than the other brands. The bike is sleek and can cut through traffic easily. Power is the only thing you would feel less because of its 125cc engine which churns around 9.3 bhp i guess but still the performance is good. I didn't liked the seat as it was bite uncomfortable to ride on a hard seat for long rides. But as the seating position is straight up right you wont feel any pain in one hour of riding. If maintained and services properly this bike will serve you the best it can give. Spare parts of this bike are easily available anywhere and also in cheap price. In case of servicing yamaha service centres are very poor. One thing i noticed is that the fitting of the headlamps is bit loose. If not covered in rainy season water enters inside the headlamp. Not yet sure from where does the water accumulates inside it. I will suggest yamaha to look after this issue.

    Pros -

    1. Good mileage

    2. Better performance

    3. Sufficient braking power

    4. Reliable

    5. Best for Indian roads and traffic jams

    6. Good handling

    7. Less maintenance

    Cons -

    1. Stiff suspension

    2. Hard seat

    3. Good disc brake

    4. Poor headlight

    5. Vibration on handle bars & foot-pegs

    6. Poor service centre

Yamaha Saluto

16 July 2015
Ranjan R. Bhat

The Yamaha Saluto is a very perplexing motorcycle. Having established its roots in the more enthusiast-oriented 150cc segment with the FZ-S and the YZF-R15, Yamaha launched the Saluto as a replacement for the ageing SS125 with an eye on the lucrative 125cc commuter segment....
