Don't go for it.

1 month ago by Abhishek Kundu1,319 views

See it's clear that Yamaha's FZ series bikes are not as good or as refined as their MT series and R series bikes. This bike is actually good enough for nothing, neither does it have good power figures as its competitors such as Gixxer 250 and Duke 250 its instrument console is out dated and doesn't give you the premium bike feeling. The bike is so incapable that it's power and torque figures are always compared with 180-200 cc segments bike. It has nothing extra to offer than its competitors. And one thing for people who have the belief that since it's a Yamaha its refined, yes its refined but not as we expect from the Japanese machines. This level of engine refinement we see in TVS apache series. The bike has ample amount of vibration when revved post 4.5k rpm that means 80 km/h, so you see it's a blunder to make this thing. One thing I would like to make it clear in front of all who are thinking to buy this "thing" please don't waste your money, if you feel you need a 250 cc segment bike then go for the other brand because this is nothing. Just for the sake of name it's 250 cc just a bigger engine won't benefit you much, you won't get that feeling on it which you might be expecting. It's a way old technology which is used on this bike. It has only 2 valves can you believe this. Its brakes are borrowed from r15. I made a mistake and it's my duty to pass on my experience to all. See I made you clear about a fact if you have the money for this bike of approximately 1.85 lakhs please purchase a Honda Hornet 2.0 believe me my friends who bought that beautiful machine are way happier than me they ride it with full mental peace and it's a way way more efficient and practical than this "shit". They get a good mileage of around 48-50 km/l and have enough for weekend trips. This machine has very poor mileage and moreover. Honda has the premium bike feeling it has golden used forks bigger instrument cluster and handling is way better than this just a tiny less power than this 17.5 bhp and 16.1 nm of torque. Go for it, you'll never regret like me.

    1. The buying experience of buying a Yamaha was really amazing at JM Yamaha motors, Noida. Paper work was hassle free and from the day I bought this bike till date, they have been really courteous and attentive to me. Specially, the service manager and showroom owner.
    2. Bike's seating/riding ergonomics is spot on compared to a mix of many motorcycles. The handlebar is wide like a street bike, upright like a cruiser bike, tilted at an angle like a sports bike (with also a bit raised foot pegs which makes the riding fun). Also, the split seats are amazing in terms of space and cushion. This bike can give you sports as well as a cruiser feel. I am obsessed with its riding dynamics.
    3. Looks are phenomenal. Even the bike of it's segments are dwarfed in front of it (it's true and i am not kidding). My bs4 model looks more intidimating than Dominar 250 and Gixxer 250 from the frontal area. The swept up tail with neatly designed saree guard integrated into the rear mudf lap shows Yamaha's attention to detail. This bike has a good torquey low and mid range punch which becomes blunt when revved upto its 9650 rpm redline and makes this bike easily cruise at 100 km/h at 6730 rpm in its tall 5th gear. Engine is smooth below 7k rpm and becomes rough above that, becoming satanic on the redline. The clever sprocketing in this bike makes it faster in quarter mile race than its rival bikes. Its quite light when compared to competition and that could be sensed in city's bumper to bumper traffic. First three gear ratios being short and the rest two being tall makes it an excellent city as well as highway bike. Heat management is excellent as well and oil cooler does its job fairly.
    4. Normal servicing is pocket friendly ~ rupee 1.2k to 1.5k, whether it's paid or free (except the oil filter which is way more costlier when compared to competition) but when a running part is changed its way more costlier than the competition (being a yamaha owner in India, you have to bear this pain as their parts are always costlier). Also, the yamaha service centres charge a lot on the name of labour charges and then charge got over the latter, making it even more costlier. Regarding maintenance, this is a proper no-non sense bike - enough said. Its made for rough everyday usage and ocassional weekend long rides. Except the rear disc pad change at every 8k to 10k kms (front disc pads usually last longer) and periodic (every 500 kms) chain cleaning and lubing, all this bike needs is a tank full of gasoline.
    5.. Pros -
    A. Linear & torquey power output and well distributed gear ratios
    B. Fuel economy is high in its segment
    C. Beefy muscular looks flaunted by a robotic fascia and well sculpted & engineered rear end.
    D. Riding ergonomics and split seats with good seating area and comfort for both - rider and pillion
    E. Bike with the best butter smooth engine (below 7k rpm) in its bs6 price range of rupees 1 lakh 34 thousand (ex-showroom, Delhi)
    F. Smooth and bassy exhaust note - typical Yamaha
    Cons -
    A. Headlight (bs4) is like a mini torch instead of a proper headlight
    B. Instrument console is pathetic viz. Reminds me of Casio calculator
    C. Parts cost are high when compared to the competition.
    D. Rusting and rear brake pad issue is persistent in earlier models (non-abs bs4)
    E. Engine needs a serious overhaul. It's in a dire need of a 4-valve head setup to breathe-in air freely, to rev high and smooth, in its top end. Also, a bigger oil-cooling radiator might assist this bike for long hauls on highway.
If these things are done, then only could the bike ask for a potent and well distributed 6-gear transmission.
    F. The front suspension leak and swing arm bush corrosion is imminent in the whole fz series right from the inception of fz16 and Yamaha has done nothing till date to curb it out.

Actually FZ25 was not in my list I was an addict of FZ16 but I couldn't own at that time because i didn't have the license but the model was discontinued on 2017. In march I was worried and sad that I couldn't buy FZ . But when I rode FZ25 BS4 ABS which was my friends bike for one day full it made a great change in me and I booked this bike but black was not available.
    Pros :-
    Better Performance
    Engine is superb
    Pillion Comfort
    Good Pickup
    Build quality is awesome
    Good for middle-aged person
    ABS is awesome
    Cons :-
    Lack 5 speed gear
    Low top end
    No gear indicator
Please don't buy this bike if you are going on a high speed or rash purposes or something like that
I wish yamaha could bring a great change in 5 to 6 speed gear and gear indicators

The performance, pickup, balancing and specially the look it like a hunk. When I ride so many people are watching me and I always feel very happy. I want fz250 but because of price I stay back.
Over all performance of the bike, price is good but I cant effort.

Lots of vibrations from 45 km/h speed and increases up as you go higher. It becomes unbearable till 80 and you do not feel like revving it beyond 80 -85. It takes its own time to reach 3 digit speed and meanwhile gets lot of vibrations all over the seat, mirror and what not. Not at all good for highway riding. Its good only for city rides. Excellent ride, handling and suspension. I was misguided by youtube reviews as it is said that it has a smooth engine and smooth ride. This is the story at 2600 kms running. After 3rd service there is slight improvement over vibrations and smoothness but still do not feel like taking it out on highways (which was my purpose to buy it) and feel that it will further disappoint me. Thinking of selling it. Maintenance and service is ok, dealer and service center is also good in Pune. Average is around 35 and is less when you drive faster above 75 which you feel like doing sometimes only and get that disappointment of harshness and discomfort.

Best 250cc bike for commuting as well as touring. I have been riding the fzs25 bs6 version from past six months and in this time period I have completed nearly 12000 km's. It may not be as powerful as other bikes in the segment on paper. On- road performance is completely different. This bike has excellent pickup and very good mid range riding quality. The only thing that I feel that Yamaha should have provided the 6th gear to improve the cruising speed and top speed. Slipper clutch would have been a very good add on If provided. Overall the bike is decent and very comfortable for daily commute also.

I've bought a bike fazer 25 in 2018. It got crushed recently. And the parts were not available for a 2 year old bike. Think if you want to run it for five to 10 years what situation you'll face? the parts arrived finally after waiting 30 days. And now the dealer is asking to wait 7 days as they have too many bikes to repair. That means if you buy a Yamaha fancy bike and if it got crushed somehow you have to wait almost forty days to get it repaired. Now you say why should a customer go for Yamaha bikes? and where I'm getting this service is the main city(capital) of the district. I'm not going to recommend Yamaha to anyone else and as soon as I have money to replace this bike I will replace this piece of Yamaha with another brand. I've even contacted the Yamaha customer care online but they are of no use. They'll assure you of talking with the dealer but at the end you'll see nothing is happening. Go for some established brand whose parts are available always.

Bike is good when new comes with lot of torque. After using 1 year there is lot of engine noise. When asked the service center they say that company has said that its normal. Performance also degraded after just riding 10k km's. Why such a pathetic product from Yamaha. Paying 1.5 lakhs and realized that just after 10k the bike is not performing is bad. I would never venture Yamaha for my future bikes.

Yamaha has good sales and service which you need to consider over other brands, and i feel it's so much fun to ride motorcycle loaded with torque which lets you move in any gear! I personally liked the way it looks as it has a big bike feeling and the big 14-litre tank gives a road presence, as most of the parts are from its younger sibling FZS, maintenance is comparatively cheaper for a 250cc machine .pros - ride quality, lightweight, multipurpose bike, fuel efficiency ( 35-40 kmpl on average ) , torque loaded bike. Cons - 5 gears, cornerings feel not so confident, headlight could be brighter, no LED indicators.

Well, I bought the bike in 2017 just after its launch, was keen to try the quarter-litre Yamaha has to offer. Now 22000+ kilometres clogged and i would say that the bike is pretty good, it has been good be it on/off-road. You can cruise on the highway at 110 km/h with ease and without any sort of back pain, but the back starts to pain when the roads are bad. However, a couple of things that need improvement are always there. The bike needs a 6th gear, you can feel the bike asking for it while on the highway, the bike becomes a bit sluggish after 100 km/h due to lack of 6th gear and therefore accelerates in a rather slower pace, the maximum that it will go is 144km/h and that's it. The only thing that i hate about this bike is the front headlights, utter useless. My rx-100 has better stock lights than this. Coming to the maintenance part, it's heavy when it comes to the disc pads, not because that the disc pads are expensive but because they don't last, on an average i have to change my disc pads 3 times a year if i'm not off-roading. The front shock absorber could be better, you can feel those bumps on your shoulders, the rear suspension is good handles the bumps carefully. And then the maintenance cost, well you cant own a 250cc motorcycle and expect that the maintenance is the same as the 150cc fz. So i would like to conclude that after all those kilometres that i've ridden it, it turned out to be good for me. Sure it's less in power than it rivals gixxer 250, yeah it doesn't corner like the duke 200/250 but there's one thing that you can't do in the other two, but the vehicle in 5th gear at a mere 40km/h in the city.
