Earlier i had tvs apache rtr 180 upgraded to my current beast fz 25 in march.Went for a test ride fell in love with bike that wave of torque is mukhan(butter) bike zooms past everything like lighting loved that bit.

Engine on easy side never stained, vibration to me felt really low as my apache was full of them but a wave of vibrations come from between 80-95kmph you will feel it when your touring but day to day not as such noticeable.

Digital console is just below average for a 1.5 lakh bike basic information nothing fancy or eye catchy(was disappointed).

Ride is comfortable as such bit firm but manageable due to large rider seat.

Brakes- front lacks feel but does the job, same with the rare feel is not there ( need abs)

The only thing i really miss in the bike while touring is absence of 6th gear and boy o boy if they upgrade this bike with 6th gear it would by far the best cruiser in this range.

Engine heat is there u feel it in traffic but manageable with jeans.

Head light is okay gets better after adjustment.

Overall great bike solidly put together and the assurance of yamaha can’t be questioned.

Better than the competition in that price bracket

Got mileage 30-32 that includes mostly aggressive driving

Sorry if i missed something and for the mistakes its my first attempt for such a detailed review.

  • Fz25 a wonderful tourer with negligible issues

    Naveen S

My knight black yamaha fz251. Buying experience: i bought my knight black fz25 from vinayak yamaha, domlur, bangalore on 4th january 2018. The registration date of my bike is 1st january 2019. Service provided here during sale was pretty good and quicker than i thought. I only had to wait for a week or so before i got my hands on this beautiful machine.2. Riding experience: i never missed 6th gear in this machine, though i missed abs. Although, yamaha has always given best brakes, both discs and drums. As everyone says, yes! fz25 is a wonderful tourer, no doubt. It performs very well in hilly roads. I myself have tried doing 4th gear in ghat section, even in some of hairpin bends.3. Looks: it's a beast. Fz25 design is just great no doubt. It looks pretty well. 4. Service and maintenance: when it comes to service part, it's cheaper when compared to some other 250cc segments. Fz25 is not treated as superbike thereby reducing its cost of maintenance. Minimum cost of service rs.1,500 and maximum depends on how many parts are to be replaced on your bike. My highest service cost till date is 6k.5. Pros: I) as mentioned above, it's a great tourer. It's high torque makes it perfect for hilly roads.Ii) seat position is well designed, back ache reduced.Iii) beautiful body design, headlight design.Iv) extra mud guard for rear tyre, which is essential during monsoon.V) 48 teeth strong chain sprocket Cons:I) it definitely misses abs. At least optional abs could have been given.Ii) strength of headlight: if you are a night-tourer, you definitely need extra aux lights.Iii) 6th gear: i really don't miss 6th gear but it could have added little more power, i believe.Iv) front tyre: mrf 100/80-17- this tyre has wobbling issues. If you ride at 60-70kmph and try leaving your hands or not hold the handle tightly, you'll feel an uncomfortable wobbling. However, this can be completely avoided if you change the tyre after completing 18000-20000kms.V) engine oil-yamalube: don't know why this oil gets unusable so quickly. Even though, yamaha says 5000kms is the service interval, if you check the engine oil at 3000kms, it's totally black and worst. Here, i would definitely recommend everyone to use motul engine oil. But be sure to use yamaha specified series- 10w40 or at the max you can put 10w50.

  • Yamaha fz 25 pros and cons | user review after 3500 km

    Abhishek Chakraborty

I use fz 25 for my office commuting daily. It runs approx. 40 km daily and also occasional long ride like 400 km in one day. Till now i have experienced some pros and cons with the bike. I am going to discuss about those here.Pros-1. Throttle response 2. Best in the class mileage (38 in city/ 41 in highway)3. Looks 4. Refined engine (no vibs @ pre- 7000 rpm. I.E. After 110 u will feel slight buzz on handlebar. That's it.5. Best for city use and occasional touring.6. Reliability.Cons-1. Build quality (exhaust becomes rusty after usage of 6 months)2. Lack of power at top end. (after 7500 rpm there is lack of power. Post 135 kmph it lacks of power)3. Missing of hardware features. (such as 6th gear, better instrument console and better riding seat)4. Issues- not as comfortable seat. Hard seat is produced. For better experience u have to add cushions or have to use thirtd party air suspension seat such as ride on air, fego air float seat etc.Conclusion- after riding 3500 km i have given this review. But the cons i have mentioned is not that big because the pros are so effective that easily overshadow the cons. It's so much of fun to ride in the city and manageable to long ride as many riders took this bike to ladakh, spiti and other difficult terrain that most of the popular big cc bikes struggles to do so. And most importantly it's the most cheap bike in 250 cc segments. So enjoy your ride and maintain your fav one. God bless rides. Cheers!!

  • Well balanced and fun bike

    Bhaskar Das

I've been riding this bike since the 1st of January 2021 and till now I've ridden more than 50000km. Although the bike looks like an aggressive street, it's quite comfortable in almost all kinds of situations. Be there the usual traffic, highways, rough roads filled with potholes, or even the sharp corners. The bike is easy to maneuver and that gives the rider a big boost in riding confidently. The engine is quite refined(as expected) and doesn't ride like it's only focused on speeding like some bikes that won't move until it's over 4000rpm(if you know what I mean). The bike will try to assist the rider as much as it can in every gear to make it a comfortable ride. Fun machine. But don't mistake it for a slow 250cc. It can overtake almost every bike of its own segment of naked 250 almost in an instant because of its low and mid-range power. That also helps the bike in traffic and corners or riding in hills. Basically, it's a very well-balanced 250cc that can also be great for beginner riders.
Now the cons.. of course, there will be some. The bike has a 5-speed gearbox. Which is good for city rides and provides mileage because of it, but on straight highways, you're going to miss the sixth gear. Although I've reached the top speed of 147kmph on my bike very recently so maybe there is a possibility it can go to 150kmph.
The second con is the smoothness of the gearbox. Not as smooth as someone would expect it to be, you know having the reputation of being a yamaha. Sometimes it gets beyond hard.
The third is the instrument cluster.. it doesn't have a gear indicator and the instrument cluster is the same old traditional fz25 cluster.. although it doesn't bother the experienced rider, if Yamaha is going to focus on pointing the beginner riders to this bike, I think they should bring some mandatory upgrades on the instrument cluster. The bike should look good from the Rider's eyes too.
There are also some other little cons but those will vary depending on the Rider.
My personal Overall experience of the bike is 8 out of 10.

  • Looks Good but Yamaha does not let me Test ride

    Prakash Goyal

I went to yamaha dealer in Gurgaon for test ride. However he told me off and denied test ride on any of the bikes, MT15, FZ or R15. He said yamaha company does not assign dealers test ride vehicles. Customer have to buy the bikes without getting to test them. This is ridiculous thinking by Yamaha, how can they expect us to invest 1.5 lakh in their products without testing if the said product is right for us. I really wanted to own a Japanese made bike but it seems Yamaha does not care about Indian customers.
