Ride over a year. Looks good but the build quality is very bad. Start rusting in just 2 months. Engine overheating and engine trouble light showed. Poor performance compares to other bikes in this segment. The chain spoke kit changed two times.
Comfortable for short rides but worst for long rides.
Overall not recommended.

Tips for Yamaha FZ X

Change engine oil in 2000 kms

    Shashank M K

    14 months ownership
    21,000/- km driven
    *Pros*
Comfortable seating position for both rider and pillion. Enough room for both.
Smooth handling and maneuvering over turns and corners. Build quality is great. Retro look for a 150cc bike looks good and People do notice vehicles on the road.
Good for city-ride motorcycles and medium-range rides.
    Build quality is at par
Awesome feedback from breaks both front(ABS👌🏼) and rear.
    Good Highway mileage(50kmpl)
No heating issues even after continuing the ride for 200Km.
Overall a satisfying motorcycle for smooth and steady riders who maintain Average speed between 40-65kmph
Engine refinement is at its best with Yamaha.
Recommend going with Blue or Matt Black color, Matt Copper color shades after a few months which make the vehicle look dull.
    *Cons*
Lacks power over 65kmps speed, Especially with pillion sitting.
1.75L is Quite Expensive for a 150cc motorcycle
Vibration Starts at the handlebar, mirror, and footpecks above 80/85kmph, but not too much.
Demands general service very often, Changed my Chain sprocket just after 14,000kms(Maybe because I wasn't maintained well before)
Recommended to get the service done in the showroom rather than a local service station, especially in Bangalore.
Not satisfied with a max speed of 115kmph, in fact, craves for power over 100 itself, Rarely reaching 120kmph.
Mileage over 74kmph(Noneconomy range) is worse, hardly gives 30/35kmpl.
The severe issue is in the painting, Can see paint wearing off on the Clutch/Front break, handlebar, and on tank.
Mainly Seat should have been mounted firmly, Creates a lot of sound in humps as the seat is very loosely attached.
The gear indicator is not there, which is necessary in City rides.
Sometimes gear shift isn't so smooth, Have had several incidents when it has been stuck suddenly when trying to change gears from 3rd to 2nd or 2nd to 1st, especially in Bangalore traffic it irritates me a lot.
Overall it's a 3.5* for people who expect powerful motorcycles.
    But
4* for smooth and steady riders.

  • Yamaha FZ X Review: Is This the Perfect 150cc Bike for You?

    Yadhu Krishna

    - Looks are polarising
    - No battery issues as some other reviews mentioned
    - Driving in traffic is also easy, but since driving posture is different, you might feel some difficulty in the beginning.
    Pros:
    - On-time delivery & perfect condition
    - Good color choices available
    - Awesome mileage 50+ kmpl
    - Seat & posture is extremely comfortable for the rider
The sound is extremely good. You will love to ride more due to it.
    - You get good confidence in edges and roads that are not good
    - You get good Yamaha Service: 1st service cost < 1000 rs.
    - Best neo-retro bike in 150 cc in this price range
    - Suitable for long rides
    - Good gripping tires, you can do small offroad also
    - Gear shifting is smooth, clutch is medium light
    Cons:
    - Did not get a chance to select one bike from a set of bikes.
The bike isn't tall enough (felt ground clearance issue on tall bumps with heavy pillion)
    - Difficult to sit for tall/bulk pillion
    - Not sure if it has to be mentioned - Some sound from back while on rough roads
    - Gear but the lever is short. Slight difficult to downshift when wearing lengthy shoes/boots.
I took a ride from Kerala - Bangalore (of course 5 - 10 mins break every 1-2h since it was a new vehicle). It was an awesome experience. No heating issues.
Yes, This is a perfect 150cc bike, if you do not have a heavy pillion!

  • MY FIRST OWNED BIKE: FZX 150

    Hadees Siddique

I pre-booked this in 2021, amazed with its look-lite weight machine with a 150cc engine at an affordable price was a sleek move for me but that move is totally worth it.
I have driven more than 11K kms and still feel this bike can give more power and long rides one of my longest rides on this bike was 70 to 80Kms, its braking system is great, while the grip bike's tires give on the road is phenomenal, in this two years my bike never slipped never left its grip and I think that's what makes it great. 10 liters tank every day I make a commute of almost 20 to 22kms, and I fill up the full tank and that easily goes for a whole month. Its speed, comfort, and control are commendable. I had 3-4 accidents but this bike has saved me every time it's leg guard and well builds body. Whenever or where ever I go with this bike, FZX is an attention seeker even after 2 years still people stop me and ask me about the bike they get so impressed with the looks and color combination( I have the orange and black in Matte) no doubt it's definitely a piece of art.
Talking about service and maintenance it varies from rider to rider (if you ride it like a bike it will be very cost-effective), I only did normal servicing, and it's affordable and cost-effective. I have kept my bike in a great condition that nobody can tell it's a 2-year-old bike. So it usually depends on how you use it.
    Pros;-
    -Mileage
    -Fuel efficient
    -Comfort
    -Braking system
    -Build Quality
    -Cost-effective
    -Exhaust Note
    -Easy to handle
there aren't many cons, but there are some points I would like to add
    Cons;-
-Bluetooth connectivity (It drained my battery whenever I kept my idle for 3-4 days)
-After each 80 Km/h speed because of its lite weight bike does vibrates and it feels it's taking too much power
    Overall;-
If you're looking for a bike that is affordable, retro, cafe racer with a 150cc engine, cost-effective, and fuel-efficient you can get this bike.

  • A must buy bike if ur looking for retro looks

    Hemakeshwar

It's an amazing bike, it gives superb comfort. On Chennai roads in the city, I get 45 to 50 + mileage.
You can even ride it off-road, it's comfortable, and the headlight is brighter too. And women can easily sit in it, but on the other hand Fz, R15 bike women may feel hard due to their knee issues.
If Yamaha added a GPS direction system to the bike it would be better.

  • Elegant fz-x

    Asif

Recently purchased it 2 weeks ago.
    Pros follow below.
This bike is an eye-catching elegant voguish retro design, with superb comfort, and mileage beyond expectation, before the first service it gave me almost 62 mileage per liter on my first highway drive with fzx, and just followed the eco meter for most of the journey, I kept my speed of about 70 to 75 mph, sometimes above 85 mph as well, mileage 50+ mandatory, no much maintenance required. Power is superb on the empty roads more than single rider tested, shown zero lagging. It all-around bike i.E family, daily use, and sometimes a bit longer ride, and the best bike in this segment. I thought to buy the royal enfiled, however, yamaha fz-x retro has proven a better choice.
    Cons:
    1) gear status on the meter is missing.
    2) indicator led lights would have been better.
    3) rare area design could be improved.
I don't like the sports bike fiber body design, every second bike in the market from all brands you will find a similar design. If you want a standout and different identity, retro is the best. Will keep you posted if faced any issues in the future.

The buying experience was okayish, but since I have shifted from a decade-old hero honda glamour, I fell in love with the comfort, stability, and mileage. It is commendable, how this bike acts and reacts in no time while revving at high or low rvms.
If you want to ride a bike, irrespective of the way it looks and on-paper specs, you will be satisfied with it.

    Pros :
    1. Better mileage and better riding compatibility
    2. Top speed is around 115 kmph. Min vibrations at the top speed
    3. Very good brakes.
    Cons :
    1. Gear shifting is sometimes hard
    2. Battery drains fast. I have a battery charger and remove the battery if not used for more than a week.
Overall it's a very good bike.

  • 14 months, 21000kms riding experience

  • Mileage king

    Aryan

The buying experience was okayish, but since I have shifted from a decade-old hero honda glamour, I fell in love with the comfort, stability, and mileage. It is commendable, how this bike acts and reacts in no time while revving at high or low rvms.
If you want to ride a bike, irrespective of the way it looks and on-paper specs, you will be satisfied with it.

Try using Motul 300V/liqui moly street engine oil with waxpol oil treatment. You will get the best possible performance and mileage out of it.

    Pros :

    2. Top speed is around 115 kmph. Min vibrations at the top speed
    3. Very good brakes.
    Cons :
    1. Gear shifting is sometimes hard
    2. Battery drains fast. I have a battery charger and remove the battery if not used for more than a week.
Overall it's a very good bike.
