  • 70000kms and its bullet proof engines grunt still moves my soul

    Abhinav Prakash Pathak

As i have done 70,000 kms on this bike and i am a mechanical engineer ,i guess i am qualified to give my take on this bike.

    Pros first

    Fazer the game changer

    1) despite being weak on spec sheet(13 bhp,12.8nm),due to yamaha's flat torque curve which hits very early (lower rpm then counterparts)the pickup is best in 150cc engine class.

2)forerunner in adding big tyres(140/50r 17m) to 150cc bike and now the world follows it.

    3) due to its aerodynamic design wind blast is negligible even at tripple digits.

4)best practical bike in city as well as on highway.

5)yamaha's bulletproof engine's reliability is unparalleled.

6)for city traffic these bikes saves time.

7)after doing 70,000 kms power loss is negligible.

8)some of my friends took other bikes like tvs apache 160 and pulsar 180 in same year and sadly they all have changed two bikes in same span of 7 years.

9)i am planing to upgrade to itz bigger sibling fazer250 which is a tourer.

    10)done 500 kms in a day without a hassle.

11)never broke down suddenly on road as yamaha follows rigorous quality checks.

12 whenever i look at it smile comes to my face.

13 ride quality is good for a sports bike.

14 for a really long time it was the only fi 150 cc bike in India.

    Cons

    1)abs is missing.

2)spares are costlier than counterparts by atleast 100% but in turn it gives extremely reliable life of bike.

3)doesn't show sign of aging thus could not buy new bike.

4)pillion comfort is little bit compromised.

5)not upgraded to rear disk like gixxer and hornet.

Style awesome guys, i wud say better dan old fazer.

Engine performance, fuel economy and gearbox engine is butter smooth, less noisy, m getting more dan 50 in shell super petrol cant bliv! lack of power in d 5th gear but works fyn, u can reach 120max speed.

Ride quality & handling superb ride quality, gud seating position thanks to split seat, but cant take full turn in small roads.

Final words if ur luking for sporty looks, gud mileage n doesnt matter abt power go fr it.

Areas of improvement increase in power n displacement.

    Pros

    1. Good @ looks, attracts everyone on the road(especially girls)

Body weight and low seat height, it maybe noted that earlier this year, the indian subsidiary of japanese bike giant yamaha launched the facelifts for the fz16 and fz-s, two of its highest selling 150cc models in our country. Now, the fazer is essentially a fz+front fairing and hence, the fact that the launch of the revised fazer has followed the updated fzs doesn't come across as a surprise.

Hello guys i m using this bike for last 1 year and this is amazing the engine sound is so amazing compare to older version and coming about mileage it's best in 150 segment bike i have calculated mileage and got an average of 45 in city and 48 in highway again its totally depending on your riding skills

Also guys the maintenance cost is very less although price of parts of yamaha is quite high compare to bajaj but all the past are highly durable and they hardly get damaged

If u thinking to buy a bike and budget is 1 lakh go for this one it's best bike in this segment with best sporty looks and combination of mileage and less maintenance cost...Go for it.

It's comfortable to ride. Disc brake is more reliable. You can ride long distance at a time without rest. Pick up is very good .It's shock absorber is stronger than others. So it is comfortable to ride in rough road. It looks like a lion from front side. Always wear a helmet while riding your bike. All the best.

I am using fazer v2.0 from last 1 year, i am really disappointed about the headlamps less power, rear brake does't give the confident & the rear suspension hits directly the back & makes uncomfortable. I feel pickup is less comparing with other 150 cc bikes, spare parts durability should be better.Service quality should be better and overall i am not happy with this bike.

Then i worked as auto driver and earned some money to get my dream bike. When riding fazer i feel like riding a big horse on the road and all eyes will be at my bike, looks and performance is great as its a sports bike. The only disadvantage is the mileage as the government hikes the petrol price..It slightly makes me feel bad and sad.
