I have been using this bike for several month and now 4th servicing is coming up. Been a rider for pulsar ns 200 before but sold it and bought this one. This will be my personal opinion on the bikes i have own and nothing else.

    Pros of this apache 200

1.A perfect balance of power and riding quality that can go along daily commuting and long rides.

    2. Having only 5 gear is a good thing in my opinion for city ride plus highway. 6th gear is totally stupid in traffic condition.

    3. Concerning is better handled than ns 200.

    4. Looks more matured than other of its competitors. Eg. Compared with ns, gixxer, fzs. Others looks childish.

    5. Shock absorber is perfect under the recommended tyre pressure but at higher tyre pressure the suspension is irritating.

    6. Seating position is way better than other for commuting as well as long ride (been rode for about 178km at a stretch recently completing 7000km).

    7. Exhaust note is uncomparable by other rivals.

    8. Smooth ride even at 6000-7500 rpm. Didn't get this at my ns200.

    9. Better than paper data. Gone for touring on hilly areas with rs200 with a co-passenger each but still go along or even more than rs 200 but in paper rs200 is way better.

    10. Mileage is awesome city 34-35km highway 41-43km per litre which i really cant believe.

    11. Overall build is great. Been into crash 1 time bit only the foot peg got broken handle bar got scratch and the leg guard got bent. In my previous ns 200 a single crash at 43kmph make me spent 5000 rs. (in apache mask doesn't get hit and side indicator are well protected but in ns it will get damaged eventually).

Now lets come to the cons of this bike

    1. Paint quality is totally a downside for this bike. I had my swing arm replaced just 9 days after delivery by complaining to the customer care.

2.Chain is totally making me mad. I know how to maintain a chain but this one really makes me mad.

    3. Rusting at metal join all along the chassis is a thing that makes me say proper. Not to buy this bike as manipur is a rainy state. Hope tvs rectify this one quickly. I have painted these parts using watercolour brush

    4. Braking efficiency is less in my option (mine is without abs) as compared to rs200 only.

    5. High speed drive seems to get over rev as a want for sit gear comes. (but for 80-100kmph its ok).

    6. The gear indicator is making mistake continuously.

    7. The fuel indicator doesn't indicate upto full capacity even when the fuel is over refuelled. ( did this just for a check and not for using as such as it will damage the evap)

    8. Suspension seems to be killing the driver in little off road like condition especially remote area with bad road. Here i miss my ns 200 .

My option is buy this bike if you are a matured person or want to go along with this bike for a long term. I still believe in the engine life of tvs bikes my cousin's have owned for 9 years. Can used this bike for.Commuting as well as for long ride. But if you want for touring purpose go for a 6th gear bike that will make the tour ease. For me this bike is totally awesome and makes me more matured than my ns 200. The cost is very low.Compared to ns200 and the servicing centre is good (maybe they are new in my area). Could have given 5 star if not for the paint quality

Bought this bike 2yrs ago. I had 3 options in mind. The pulsar ns 200, yamaha fz25 and the rtr 200. The ns is a mad bike..Lot of power. Great top end. But one needs to whack the throttle a lot to get it going. Mainly meant for highways. But the what it lacks s the quality. N many of my friends using the ns shared that they got issues of chassis bend after an year or 2. Engine feels like its carrying lot of load n the engine s not at all durable. N the design also feels dated. Where as the fz25..Lik it may b 250cc motor..But it makes almost identical power of the rtr200. N like any other yamaha bikes..This one s also notorious for rusting. Rtr 200 s a great package would say. It has amazing sharp n edgy looks, gud power in the city, usable power on highways. N the best part s it do not vibrate. Till 127 its fast n after it takes time to pull up..Yet i managed a 156kph max. I wish it had 2 or 3 hp more power n a 6th gear..Then it would have rely smoked the competition..But u know no bike s perfect. I have completed 16k kms. I use it for city commutes, weekend rides n touring. I am very happy..I did make a good choice.

  • The most comfortable in its class

    Shashi Warrier

I'm nearly 59 years old and have been riding for over 40 of those years. I had a karizma previously and got the apache 200 to replace it. This apache is the most comfortable in its class, and it doesn't give me a backache even when i ride 300+ km in a day. Fuel efficiency is reasonable, at about 40 on the highway and 35 in the city, and it can cruise all day at 100kph without complaint. My wife, who likes to come for the occasional long ride, says that after the thunderbird (which i had many years ago) and the karizma, this has the most comfortable pillion seat. One irritant is the need to clean and lubricate the chain and sprockets every 500km. Otherwise, it's needed very little work, and the first two services have been completely routine. The five-speed gearbox is practical for city use: a sixth gear is little use. The only thing i wish for is a better rear brake. The apache 200 suffers in paper comparisons with the bajaj ns 200, but if you're looking for a comfortable ride and want something lighter and faster than a bullet, this one is just fine.

    Style sporty look.

Engine performance, fuel economy and gearbox in gearbox, i feel some lagging during the gear shift from 1 to n or 2 to n. It is not the fastest bike but good for safe drive.

    Ride quality & handling good.

Final words for bugdet 1l, i believe it is the best one.

Areas of improvement should increase its production and make availability of abs and fi.

    Pros

200cc bike in almost same rate as of 150cc bike now a day.

  • Tvs apache rtr 200 4v is a shame for the previous models!!!!!not recommending....Never buy!!

    Abhijith

Guys,i am using this vehicle for past 4 months and from day one to till day 8 breakdown services completed and now it is resting in peace(dead) at my parking .Obviously i am fed up with this vehicle and currently stepping towards consumer court for a whole unit replacement but you can believe my statements completely.Truth to be said,i never had a nice wonderful riding experience in this apache rtr 200 4v vehicle as i could complete 2104 km only.I bought this vehicle after careful consideration of reviews, reports, my previous experience with rtr 160 and as a thumps up support for an Indian product.

I have an apology letter written by tvs authorized dealer as they made scratches to my vehicle as an example for poor service provided by tvs. The vehicle is bs iv compliant and there is no kicker (this is common in most of the other brands) additionally manufacturing defect also,so get ready to face starting trouble very often.I bet your dream vehicle will be a dare dream for you if you opt to buy it.I am not saying these cons as i am negative but i have all the proof for services made and how they failed to fix the issue.

The major issues in this vehicle:-

    * starting trouble repeats even though - battery and electrical wiring cause...Still tvs not sure what

is the root cause in my bike.

    * oil bleed - oil leak is not due to over usage of oil in chain but it is from the heart. I have images to

    prove it.

    * hard gear shaft movement- especially in city traffic it will really hurt you.

    * refuse to start in gear and some times allows only on neutral - hope there is a fix for this with tvs.

    * gear indicator malfunction - indicator shows neutral when it is geared. Minor issue can be

ignored but a defect is defect.

In my experience the vehicle seriously failing with starting issues in bs iv models. Most of the online reviews posted are before bs iv introduced in the market. So better go for bajaj dominar or some other models for a huddle free riding experience.

Good luck, A suffering tvs customer!

Please don't take a chance with this bike as i feel its not capable to adapt bs iv. I feel i am cheated as they have modified the old stock vehicles prior to bs iv and which is not supporting the load.None of my friends owning this vehicle have a good opinion. Also noted tvs dealers easily removing good parts from unsold vehicles to service the sold ones.

  • The blue ranger review

    Samipendu Das

When I decided to purchase a bike, I had three options in my mind - apache rtr 200 4v, pulsar ns200, xtreme 200s/ xpulse 200. I rejected ns because for touring, i needed that Bluetooth connectivity and for the daily commute, I needed efficiency. Ns 200 is not appreciated for its fuel efficiency. The second one bike to get rejected was xtreme 200s because of its performance and single-channel abs. Xpulse was my dream bike but i was afraid of puncture. So the best all-rounder existing in the market was apache, the king. Tvs people are helpful, I purchased this on Sunday without any issue.
Then let me tell the readers about performance and mileage. I ride in newtown kolkata daily from chiner park to unitech. I obey two simple principles-
    1) use urban mode, ride in 5th gear as long as possible at less than 4000 rpm with light throttle. I keep my speed within 60kmph and my performance is more than adequate for city usage.
    2) always use engine cut-off at signals.
By following these two methods, I got tank to tank fuel efficiency of 52 kmpl and it's not a joke.
For highway, I switch to the sports mode and my top speed is 134 kmph. I weigh around 90 kgs, so a rider of 60-70 kgs may race at around 140 kmph. The fuel efficiency was around 47 kmpl.
Let's talk about vibrations- it has some vibrations at low speeds. Ride at 45 kmph, 5th gear- butter smooth. After 90 kmph, you can feel some vibration in the handlebar but that's not an issue at all. The best part is you will never feel a lack of power when you give throttle at 130 kmph. But you will feel your hands are tingling after 1 hour of a ride with an average speed of 90 kmph.
Now looks is a very subjective topic. I do like it. But one thing is clear seats are not suited for more than 200 kmph rides.
Ok, let me share with you my experience of 320 km ride with it on a very hot day. I was riding a rented avenger 220 cruise and my colleague was riding my bike. He was riding at 80-90 kmph on a very bad road and the bike never got skidded ( thanks to dual-channel abs). I got skidded in front of a loaded ashok leyland truck at 50 kmph just because of useless brakes. Apache also fell from a standstill from 8 feet above the ground but there was no scratch on it. 5 stars for strong build quality and performance.
Maintainance is o.K, not that cheap. It costs around 800 in 3rd service. Servicing interval is 3000 kms or 6 months.
    Now pros-
    1) performance
    2) fuel efficiency
    3) comfort
    4) connectivity
    5) quality
    6) reliability
    Cons:-
    1) headlight is adequate but for better performance, use additional fog lamps.
    2) for touring, use air seats or modify existing seats.
Nothing else. Thank you and best of luck.

  • I love apache

    Arush

I am very happy with the performance and reliability of this bike. I am using my best friend's bike for almost every day for 60 km. This bike is awesome. Pick up, style, looks and the biggest surprise is the mileage. Guys it's 42-45 km per litre. So far i am impressed with the bike.....Ride quality is good...Comfortable for long tours..For all who are confused between ns 200 and apache 200...The ns 200 has higher top speed and more powerful but ....But only looking at the power figures is unfair....Overall tvs apache is better than pulsar.....It has usable power while the pulsar is overpowered....You will feel safe while riding apache....Its engine refinement is also better than ns 200....Build quality is also in apache.....And according to my experience..... After a year or two pulsars engines start loosing its life.....And you will start feeling that "why i bought this bike"...Overall i would say that ..Tvs is definitely better than bajaj i was planing to buy this bike from 2016 i tried ones for test it was awesome so waited for 1 year an taken the bike really enjoyed for travelling long an for office use good comfort to ride an sit behind awesome sound and front lights superb tyre grip good digital meter good suspension an one good thing is power is awesome.

    overall l love apache 200 ..

I own tvs apache rtr 2004v and i would like to share my 1.6 years of experience with you. Coming to the buying experience, it was a great deal with shree sai tvs vashi and the servicing experience was also great. I ride my bike around 14000 km till now and the performance is still superior. The engine is very smooth at the low and top end as well. Gear shifting is still very smooth and the braking system is good as well. I chose tvs remora tyres over pirelli tyres for a better life but trust me, i am having a very good experience with it. Tvs remora tyres are very sticky. The riding position is good for city riding but lil bit painful for long distance rides. Other good things are features in speedometer, clutch system. Coming to the engine again, its oil cooled and i ride the bike for 350 km nonstop and never heated a lot. Most important, exhaust system is just amazing.I was more concerned about chain sprocket as it was creating a lot of noise, but tvs has changed the front sprocket assembly. I changed my chain sprocket after 13000 km and the new sprocket is not giving any issues or noise. Also, the gear shift indicator is more problematic, it shows 2nd gear even when the bike is on neutral and even service center doesn't have the solution for this. servicing is not so costly, it costs around 1000 in free servicing that too if you are changing the oil but yeah it requires 1.2 ltr 10w30 fully synthetic oil. I have changed chain sprocket, air filter, and rear disk brake pads after 13000 km, else other parts are in good condition.I hope you guys find this helpful.

    I owned apache rtr 200 4v. Glossy black. I brought this bike jan 23 2017. I drove 8000kms.

    Advantages

    1. It's worth for the money that you're spending in a 200cc segment.

    2. It's for daily commuting and best for riding.

    3. You'll get a good mileage (around 40) if you maintain your speed in double digits.

    4. No vibration in triple digit speed. It can smoothly hit 140 without getting much time

    5. Less weight. Easy to handle. Rider convenient.

    6. Engine coating was awesome. Because the engine will never shows much heat to our legs. We won't get fried there.. Good engine.

    Disadvantages

    1. Sometimes rarely you will face the starting trouble in early morning.. I think because of carbureted version. I don't know about fuel injection. Because i own carbureted version.

    2. In the gear shifting. If the gear is in 1. But it will show neutral to us. Same as if you're in first or second gear. The instrument cluster will show neutral to us. That's quite annoying.

  • Worth for every paise

    Sanjay

  • Perfect all rounder but lacking company quality maintenance

    Malemnganba

  • Perfect all rounder but lacking company quality maintenance

    Malemnganba

    Sreejith
