I've owned a matte red rtr 200 since january 2017 and have done 10000+ kms on the bike. Pros 1. Excellent handling- the bike is very easy to handle even at high speeds. Throw in a little bit of counter steering and you can easily dodge potholes at 100kmph. 2. Road presence - it definitely catches attention with it looks. The default exhaust note is loud and bassy enough to declare its presence.3. Rtr - typical rtr acceleration, matched to the engine displacement. The throttle latency is very low.4. The console - shows time, highest speed recorder, rpm monitor, gear indicator. Doesn't matter how good of a rider you are, every once a while the gear indicator proves it's importance. Cons 1. Suspension- front suspension oil seal is weak and cracked, sometime between 1-2nd service. Got it replaced and it has been running fine ever since.2. Gear - gear shifts don't feel premium at all. It sometimes feel like you:re changing gears of a tractor and feels rough.3. Headlamp-the stock headlamp is fine but definitely not something you would want to travel with at 100.4.Service- I've had a bad experience with trijal tvs service center. However the problem is not with tvs but that particular dealer. Overall could reach a top speed of 130kmph and heard people even reach 150kmph on this bike with a little tuning on the carburetor. It has a less powerful but more refined engine as compared to ns200. Also i feel the look and feel of this bike is better than all other 200cc bikes at this price.Mileage city- i live in bangalore with worst traffic conditions and get 32-33kmpl. Mileage highway-on highways i could get around 37kmpl while riding alone and 30kmpl while riding with a pillion.Engine oil- you can consider tvs fully synthetic 10w30 but don't expect more than 3500kms from this engine oil.You can pull easy 5000kms on shell fully synthetic 10w40. Some tips: (if you love your bike as much as i do)1. Make sure you let the engine oil circulate during the first start. Let the bike stay on at neutral for the first 3-5 mins whenever you turn your bike on after a 7-8 hours break.2. Use a chain lubricant every 400-800kms and also keep a check on the chain slack.3. Get your bike washed regularly to avoid mud in your discs.4. If you are going to ride it for long, make sure to keep the engine rpm low by adjusting the gear.5. Make sure the tyre pressure is matched to the numbers provided by the manufacturer and not the local service guy. That's all folks!!

  • Best value for money in this segment.

I just bought the apache rtr 200 4v and it's pretty amazing i must say. The on road price of the rtr 200 4v dual abs is 1,65000. I got tvs xpod helmet and bike covers from from the showroom.
    Pros of this bike
    1. Amazing performance
    2. Best value for money in this segment
    3. Seat is very comfortable
    4. Best tyres from tvs
    5. Bluetooth connectivity and emergency sms system
    6. Best instrument cluster that show many features like high speed and average speed and lap timers
    7. Drls is attractive
    8. 3 modes are amazing
    Cons of this bike.
1.The only con I felt is the bike lacks the side stand indicator.
If you are planning to buy this bike, just go for it . It's the best value for money and quite decent performance. I haven't felt the lack of the 6th gear because in sports mode the 6th gear reaches 110 easily without any stress to the engine.

  • Apache rtr 200 - my experience

    Ashok Ghuge

    1. Buying experience - shifting from a 125cc bike to 200cc was quite a good experience. My search was begin after my old discover 125 started creating lot of problems in engine within four years and i decided to sell my bike and start searching for a upgrade my two choices were honda hornet and gixxer but when i saw the rtr 200 i decided to buy this without any second thought. There are not many tvs showrooms in western suburbs of mumbai. I bought this from siddhivinayak tvs goregaon west. Please note this is worst showroom i have ever visited the guys were so much careless and were not having any etiquette, but i was in hurry therefore had to buy from the same but got delivery within 10 days of booking and that was a relief.

    2. Riding experience - bike is super smooth and the pickup is awesome. Was not having any issue with ride quality. It was like just start the bike and zoom you can feel the power and the tvs remora tyre has good grip. Cornering was a fun on this bike.

    3. Details about looks performance etc. - the most appealing thing in tvs apache rtr 200 was its looks. The drls was my first attraction and another was its double barrel roaring silencer. The sound is very amazing it was really head turner. Talking about performance its very much refined than rtr 180 no vibrating great pickup and super handling. I did 125kmph on this bike and was very much smooth on roads.

    4. Servicing and maintenance - tvs giving 5 free service and extended two years warranty with this bike. I had done 4 free services and all cost me around rs.1500. They use synthetic oil which is costlier than regular oil. Another issue i always having this bike was chain noise need to lube chain every 500 km else you wont enjoy riding experience. The mileage i constantly get was 30. I asked many other owners and they also confirm same figure.

    5. Pros and cons. As i earlier mention my first reason to buy this was it's looks the street fighter looks awesome.

The silencer sound is great and everybody was asking me about my bike on road due to its look and thump.

The riding is very much comfortable for long touring and wont feel tiredness actually its a real fun to ride bike and in city traffic also it will give you fun.

The main disadvantage i found was its chain noise which started within 300- 350 kms after servicing.

The mileage is also a concern.

Pillion rider wont enjoy that much as pillion seats are very cramped and short.

  • Amazing apache 200

    Saurabh Kumar

It was an amazing experience to buy this 200 4v model of apache. Bike just looks stunning and sporty in its department.it gives comfortable sitting position to rider as well as pillion rider in city as well as long trip. It has superb acceleration as well as much more top pick up of 135km/h (i have drive to this speed). Has a very affordable mileage of 35km/l in city as well as on highway. Have a very good loading capacity but you won't get loading like re bikes. bike has a very good road grip with his two types of tyre provided by company (tubeless). In a long trip you need to give it some rest after 150 kms to avoid overheating of engine. Handle provides a good grip & control on your bike. Headlight is normal. Speedometer is digital & looks beautiful. after 1 year of use you need to take good care of bike as it start having some problems in brakes. Overall it's a very good bike in its range. Not much maintenance cost. You can consider it over 200 ns. It has a very good balance, straight sitting position, different colour option, led brake light, pillion footrest. Cons - lack of abs, needs 6th gear in bike, headlight can be improved.thank you.

    1. It's price 1.62 lakh(date-16.Feb.2021) 2.Smooth riding satisfied but starting pickup little bit slower than other 200cc bikes. 3.Rtr look Awesome, performance better than other bike but little bit problem it's pickup. 4.Servicing and maintenance always depend on you. Bike main thing the chain many times loose without chain spray. 5.Good.

  • Average bike pathetic after sales

    Abhishek Sahoo

Bike purchased on july 2017.Distance covered : 14000 kmI will be talking only about my bad experience part. 1 . I have ridden the bike for only 14000km (2000km on highway-100+speed) and the chain sprocket is already gone.2. Since 12500kms my engine has been making some weird sound like some screw or something, no increase in vibration though. The service center kept my bike for 10 days saying some part in engine is the issue and they are waiting for the spare and i wont be charged since engine is under warranty. Then they replace the clutch plates and clutch wire and charge me for the same and give me back the bike. Also for this i had raised a complaint with tvs, every-time i call tvs customer care, they say i will get a call from their technical team, its now more than a month and i am still waiting for it.

I almost done 5000 km on it and i never face any issue. The bike looks comfortable and easy to handle in traffic. Thanks to slippery clutch it's easy to change gears and because duel channel abs you feel safe when you are at high speed. Please go for this bike if you are looking in 200cc segment.

  • The high performance beast and the messy services 2

    Sudipta Das

    Starting from where i left.
The very next day i lubed it well and rode for 60 kms but the noise remained. So 2 days after servicing i got back to the service center where I did my fourth service (the good guys of S.S. TVS, shivmandir, 734014, Darjeeling, West Bengal). They took the bike and cleaned the chain intensely, washed the bike and lubed it freshly this time making the chain shiny as new. The chain noise they said will remain because open chain is deemed to make noises like every other 200 cc bikes. The chain noise did calm a little and i also stuck to their instructions of lubing the chain whenever it made creepy sounds and it works every time. However the sound remained till this date and I am looking forward to my 5th and last free servicing. I did adjust my wheel alignment few days back and also changed my worn out clutch switch from service center. Those guys fixed the clutch switch once but it had to be changed so i did it. The clutch switch cost me 360 rupees.
Each free servicing costs around 700-850 rupees. That ridiculous 3rd servicing with engine flush cost me 1150 rupees.
Riding experience and performance: it is a beast. You know the torque and max power numbers. However my model has a little less power than the carbureted one that was there before for bs6 conversion the 2021 model is nearly same to the 2019 carb variant. The exhaust is what excited me most when i rode it for the first time. That grunt releases adrenaline in me. I have done 0-60 km/h in 3.8 seconds and 0-100 km/h in 9.5 seconds, 120 km/h in around 16 seconds, the remaining depends on the riding conditions. I got the highest speed after my 3rd servicing that is 151 km/h. City ride is better with the gtt technology and you don't need to use throttle in traffic, it attains considerable speed without clutch. I recommend using the 1st gear only when pillion is present otherwise 2nd gear is better for single person. Throttle response is amazing in all types of roads. There is a hunger for power. The moment you hit the throttle it tries to deliver instantly. I have taken my beast to hilly roads of mirik, rohini, kurseong, the pull is good. But don't hope to get the hill ride done in above 3 gears. The roads have potholes and at places the road is too straight upwards. If you put it above 3 gears that in the hills it will try to work hard, but will struggle and hurt the engine. Maximum power delivery is in the 1st gear and 2nd gear only. One who hears the exhaust can understand when the bike is struggling and when it is enjoying the roads. I personally love the exhaust because the sound changes. When you start the bike and ride it at 4000 rpm it gives a sweet sound bit whenever you pull the throttle above that the sound instantly feels like a beast growling. Moreover when you ride for few minutes at high rpm say 700 rpm and then return to 4000 rpm or stop the exhaust sound gets a different tone. It feels ktmish to be exact. I've already mentioned the power figures i have experienced. I feel most confident while leaning. The tires may be small compared to some of tvs 200 4v rivals but the lean angle can get really high in corners. The bike enters a sharp corner quite confidently and exits it proudly. But i advice not to lean too much. Of course the bike leans to a great degree but that is already more than what you can ask from such tires. Anything more than that you may loose friction in rear tire causing an accident that may get more deadly in the hills. So i would recommend not leaning too much, it is a naked bike with no fairing or frame like Yamaha r15 v3 or Ktm bikes. But overall lean angle is in great competition to its rivals. It has a 197cc engine displacement and performs really well from what i can tell you from my experience.
The abs are life savers, they did save me several times. I do know how to lock and release the brakes in other non abs bikes but as you know abs is better, it works in fractions of seconds, so you don't need to worry about losing traction. If you tires are good, disc plate and brake pads are in good condition you will definitely stay up straight. However too much trust on abs can sometimes lead to accident. Remember it will save your bike from traction loss not from a crash. The job of abs is to prevent the wheels from losing traction and it will do so, even if it needs it's sweet time. For example, in rain and dirt the abs gets triggered easily and takes more time to stop than in a perfectly good road because it releases the brakes and again locks it every time the wheel loses traction until the bike stops. That means if a vehicle in front of you suddenly hit brakes, the moment you hit brakes the abs will try to stop the bike, but pressing the brakes harder won't do anything, the brakes will lock and release automatically and in this process may lead to a collision, and if you are luck not to deadly one.
So the stopping depends on how actively you use your brakes not how hard you hit it. In the rains the bike roads nicely and the abs also works perfectly, but the stopping distance increases. This means you should not ride in speed during the rain to avoid crash. The abs will decide how it will stop the bike but the rider needs to decide how to stop the bike fast, so be careful and do not test your limits in this respect. Also you need to understand the abs is an electric function, which means it can malfunction and stop working in unfortunate circumstances so keep an eye on the abs indicator in the console. I personally practice pumping brakes despite having abs. It prepares me to ride bikes without abs. It is basically being the abs oneself. Talking about the tires i must say i am pretty satisfied with both the tires. However, i like the front tire more because it has better grip all over it and plays the most crucial role in braking. The rear tire on the other hand is good, but i personally think tvs should have given the Pirelli option that they used to provide before 2020. The rear tire feel a little too bald to me. The grip on the corners is good but on the middle i feel tvs could have provided some extra layer of grips and cuts for better road grip. Using the brake in a straight position when the bike is upright result to a slow braking to me than in an inclined state or curves. However that's from my pov.
The slipper clutch is excellent, you can downshift multiple gears without holding the clutch and not skidding the wheel. It feels super smooth if you release the throttle a little gradually, like when downshifting in regular bikes. However do not use it if not needed. I personally don't use it very often, only occasionally. I usually follow the traditional clutch using style. Suspension is showa in the back and kyb in the front. No complaints from them. However i feel riding with a pillion is more comfortable. The suspension easily absorbs bumps on the roads and the front suspension can take really bad potholes during critical situations. The front suspension even has stoppers so that the shockers don't go too deep bursting the oil seal and remains as a front suspension security. However, i suggest you ride carefully and safely. Try to avoid potholes because they may bend and disorient the suspension and cause oil seal leak that can in turn be bad if spilt on the brakes. The clip-on handles are too good and provide excellent handling, you can adjust its free movement if you want from a mechanic. The handling feels like gliding on bad roads. Of course rider skills matters but the motorcycle has excellent handling and feels very comfortable and light in turns, twists, curves and braking. One of the best handling motorcycle of its segment. There is a dual speaker horn that gets very load, sometimes annoyingly and embarrassingly loud in narrow roads.
I speak too much, I will post one last time.

  • Apache 200 10 months ownership review

    Subhankar Banerjee

I've owned a matte red rtr 200 since January 2017 and have done 10000+ kms on the bike.

    Pros

    1. Excellent handling- the bike is very easy to handle even at high speeds. Throw in a little bit of counter steering and you can easily dodge potholes at 100kmph.

    2. Road presence - it definitely catches attention with it looks. The default exhaust note is loud and bassy enough to declare its presence.

    3. Rtr - typical rtr acceleration, matched to the engine displacement. The throttle latency is very low.

    4. The console - shows time, highest speed recorder, rpm monitor, gear indicator.

Doesn't matter how good of a rider you are, every once a while the gear indicator proves it's importance

    Cons

    1. Suspension- front suspension oil seal is weak and cracked, sometime between 1-2nd service. Got it replaced and it has been running fine ever since.

    2. Gear - gear shifts don't feel premium at all. It sometimes feel like you:re changing gears of a tractor and feels rough.

    3. Headlamp-the stock headlamp is fine but definitely not something you would want to travel with at 100.

4.Service- I've had a bad experience with trijal tvs service center. However the problem is not with tvs but that particular dealer.

    Overall

I could reach a top speed of 130kmph and heard people even reach 150kmph on this bike with a little tuning on the carburetor. It has a less powerful but more refined engine as compared to ns200. Also i feel the look and feel of this bike is better than all other 200cc bikes at this price.

Mileage city- i live in bangalore with worst traffic conditions and get 32-33kmpl.

Mileage highway-on highways i could get around 37kmpl while riding alone and 30kmpl while riding with a pillion.

Engine oil- you can consider tvs fully synthetic 10w30 but don't expect more than 3500kms from this engine oil.

You can pull easy 5000kms on shell fully synthetic 10w40.

Some tips: (if you love your bike as much as i do)

    1. Make sure you let the engine oil circulate during the first start. Let the bike stay on at neutral for the first 3-5 mins whenever you turn your bike on after a 7-8 hours break.

    2. Use a chain lubricant every 400-800kms and also keep a check on the chain slack.

    3. Get your bike washed regularly to avoid mud in your discs.

    4. If you are going to ride it for long, make sure to keep the engine rpm low by adjusting the gear.

    5. Make sure the tyre pressure is matched to the numbers provided by the manufacturer and not the local service guy.

I just bought the apache rtr 200 4v and it's pretty amazing i must say. The on road price of the rtr 200 4v dual abs is 1,65000. I got tvs xpod helmet and bike covers from from the showroom.
    Pros of this bike
    1. Amazing performance
    2. Best value for money in this segment
    3. Seat is very comfortable
    4. Best tyres from tvs
    5. Bluetooth connectivity and emergency sms system
    6. Best instrument cluster that show many features like high speed and average speed and lap timers
    7. Drls is attractive
    8. 3 modes are amazing
    Cons of this bike.
1.The only con I felt is the bike lacks the side stand indicator.
If you are planning to buy this bike, just go for it . It's the best value for money and quite decent performance. I haven't felt the lack of the 6th gear because in sports mode the 6th gear reaches 110 easily without any stress to the engine.

    That's all folks!!

    Ankit Rawat

I brought this bike about 4 month ago..It's a very good experience for me to ride this bike.
