very good style as compare to unicorn.People turns heads to view it in traffic(its personal choice but)

    attractive colors, white is best.

    Sporty look

engine performance, fuel economy and gearbox

-far more pickup than anyone expected @160cc

-you will be way ahead in traffic on this beast.

-You wiill actually feel engine smoothness even at higher speed while riding on roads. (I also checked on unicorn, engine produce lots of vibration on high speed

    - avg 52-55 (tested multiple times)

    - gear box is light and very smooth than others.

    Ride quality & handling

you will feel powerful and very comfortable for handling(even for new biker)

-powerful lights, good horn, digital speedometer, good seats.

(These feature lacks in unicorn and fz which i think matter while riding in night)

    - service is also good. Not much rush there.

    - Extended warranty, you will get many accesories from dealer if asked(go to main dealer in city)

    final words

    - worth buy @around 78k for real bike lovers.

    - Value for money due to high power with good average.

    Areas of improvement

    - seats are very much improved for indians but yet sporty.

    Style

the rtr 160 has been a decent looking motorcycle with proportionate design and styling. The latest iteration of the rtr had its tryst with aggressive styling but the results are disputed.

Engine performance, fuel economy and gearbox

the 160cc 15.4Bhp mill has been doing its duty on the rtr pretty well. The oversquare engine is free revving and revs cleanly upto the red-line of 9000rpm for the stock engine. Though there is no rev limiter, you can feel the power dip beyong 9500rpm. The power delivery is progressive through the rev range and the racing throttle response system helps the bike performm well in the mid range. One thing that dents the rtr experience are the engine vibrations that creep in near 5000rpm and are felt right up to the red line.

    Ride quality & handling

the racing inspired two-piece handle bars are well positioned giving the rider an aggressive posture. The ergonomics of the motorcyle are track oriented and the power delivery of the bike does justice to it. The motorcycle design is bang on target giving the bike a proper balance and stability on straight line as well as around corners. In city traffic, in spite of the two-piece handle bar, the bike is very easy to maneouvre and the good mid-range reponse makes it a delight to ride. The vibrations peak between 5000rpm to 6000rpm, which is sadly the normal riding rev range inindia and hence long rides on this bike make your palms go numb. The seat is soft and more comfortable in comparison wit its competitors. The brakes are pretty much enough for the bike but the tvs tyres do not inspire comfidence.

    Final words

the tvs rtr 160 is a small, puny and powerful bike which is a great package for on road as well as track riding. The engine is a gem in terms of power delivery and longevity. The fuel economy is good. If tvs can work around the nvh of teh engine, the motorcycle will be a true piece of art.

Style yes! its true.. Apache is very good for style, looks, appeal and performance. The overall dimensions is great and looks combi package bike with eye catching graphics and dynamic bright headlight with eye brows led's on upside.

Engine performance, fuel economy and gearbox engine have adequate power for quick pickup and speedy performance. Under 40-50 kmphr speed, bike is full on control and engine is smooth in power delivery but after 55 kmphr engine creats a sound during 5th gear and roaring a lot to touch 115 mark speed and here rider feels too much stress to control the bike and here fuel economy greatly retards to 46 kmpl of petrol consumtion. Mileage is not much impressive for apache here, in city apache delivers 41 kmpl and in highway 46 kmpl (speed 80-90 kmphr). Gearbox is okay for shifting up and down purpose and it is smooth during shifting 2 to 5 gear. Overall i am not satisfied with engine, vibrations and its durability.

Ride quality & handling ride on apache is good and braking performance is also very good. Rider and pillion feels not much stress and combo of rear mig shocker performs well. Handling department is more tough in high speed due to excessive vibrations coming from engine that results rider to down the speed. A control on the bike is very good mainly in heavy traffic due to short wheelbase and compact design where rider control and make the sharp cuts easily in apache. Overall ride and handling is fair in apache.

Final words remove the engine from apache is good decision by tvs and repalcing a more refinened 160cc engine with some good mileage figures and also worked on riders seating position makes a apache a brilliant macho bike for young riders. Overall a very good bike in coming future if tvs hardly worked on these segments.

Areas of improvement rework in engine for more refined, riders position (not too much agressive)and comfort, mileage and build quality of tank graphics and stickers.

I got my apache rtr 160 cc bike in mar-2012 by paying 72k rupees(yes there was a time). The meter now reads 39, 168 km covered. It has been with me for the past 6 years and is still in very good condition. Previously i had bajaj discover. Please read my experience and views about the bike:Visual appeal:It has decent looks. Back it 2012 it was one of the most sought bikes along with bajaj pulsar. I opted for apache because of its proven tracker record. But now a days there are better looking bikes are available in the market. Having said that, it doesn’t look that bad too:-)Mileage: usually don’t keep too much tracker of the mileage. But i have observed that it varies from 40 to 45 km/ltr. Not great but not bad too considering it is a 160cc bike. If you are too concerned for the mileage better go for 125 cc bikes.Comfort:Comfort-wise it might not be the best bike. Its neither high on comfort nor the worst either. In the short trips you find it quite ok but you would feel the difference once you drive it for longer distance.Performance:It is a beast with a powerful battery. Pick up is nice and breaks are pretty good. Only cons is it vibrates once you increase the speed over 70km/hr.Maintenance:There are bikes like yamaha fz or bajaj pulsar which are high maintenance bikes. As compared to them, tvs apache’s maintenance won’t cost you too much.Well that’s it from my me i wish you have wonderful and safe ride! one last word…a request…please wear a helmet for your safety!

Apache Is way better than other commutter bikes in the 160 cc segment.... The first ever riding experience was too good.....the bikes feel so smooth while riding.
Even the power to weight ratio is too Good... The initial torquey response is just out of the world..... The headlamp led just adds the animistic feeling in this bike..... I get mileage around 35-40 but after first service it gave me around 40-45...... High speed is around 135.

  • Lots of manufacturing defects, worst bike ever.

    Durgaprasad

I bought new apache rtr 160 in bangalore before 5 months. It is good for 10 days only then bike gone worst and hell. Do not buy this bike i had an worst experience with this bike and tvs contact people. I met with an accident with this bike, because of this manufacturing issue.

Bike will get shake if you cross 50km and during slow down also(worst defect of the bike nearly 15 times i have taken to show room, they can not able to solve this issue). Not at all suitable for long rides because of above problem.

There is no proper balance between front and back tiers because of this, ride become worst and i met with an accident also. Bike is skiding when you put a break.

    - Can not take sharp turns because of design.

    - Worst tvs people, can not respond properly, when i contact them for the 1st problem above

they said that is manufacturing defect, we can not do any thing, if you can go and file a

    case.

This bike has lots of manufacturing defects, initially when i bought it was good, but slowly its starts giving me problems after 10 days.

    - Firstly it has obliging problem, the handle is getting shake alot after crossing 50km

and during slowing down the bike also its getting shake like hell.

    - I have given to showroom people nearly 15 times in 6 months, they are not able to solve the issue finally said that it is manufacturing defect we can not solve this issue,

if you want you can file a case on tvs company.

    - The worst part is that the could not solve the issue and said the go and file a case.

    - 2Nd issue with gear road, if you try to decrease 2 gears at a time, 1 gear will get spiked.

It creating me lots of problems in traffic especially.

    - This bike do not has pick up in 2nd and 3rd gear, in traffic if you come down to 2nd or 3rd

gear and try to accelerate the bike it sounds like old bike and cannot move as you expect,

    again problematic in traffic.

Above issues i am facing since 6 months and showroom people can not able to solve this issues at all.

    - We can not take sharp turns with this bike, it needs more space to take turns because of its design.

    - Most and worst, tvc customer care number do not works at all(try the number in website) and if you contact them with the help of show room people, they are the worst people and can not respond to you.

If you want to know more about this worst bike,

    contact me at : 8147161248(durgaprasad).

  • Not a safe bike, we may die any day

    Prasad

I loved this bike for 30 days then it is showing me hell.

    * Bike handle shakes like hell at 40+ km, i keep on visiting show room i don't have am idea why they are not able repair that & above that they are saying every bike has this problem & i have rode many bike never seen a bike gets shaking like this.

*Vibrations from bike, it pains a lot.

*Its skidding easily every time i put break

    * somehow tires are bad, getting skid very easily. Too dangerous to drive where few drops of water is there.

*Last but not best feature: will get back pain, if you have back pain i dn't need to tell you the pain & if you dn't have back pain & want to get it just go for it will experience it in very few weeks. Bad seating management,

*worst service people behavior, they know this is manifacuring defect & can't repair but they will just do time pass with our bike for some days & after some days starts behaving very rudley with us.

*Dead features: handle shaking, skidding, free back pain.

I wouldn't have gone for this bike, my bad the bike look misleads me:-(

  • tvs apache 160 better mileage and awesome engine life

    Pratham Sharma

Buying experience was good. Riding experience was superb value for money i have not gone on above 50 speed till my first service was done at 700km after that i get 44.8kmpl mileage till now in city varanasi 221001 area most busy area in purvanchal after 1st service that i gone only on max. 70 speed in city and max. 90 (speed) on highway with pillion till 2nd service. After 2nd service speed was max. 80 in city and max. 105 in highway. Till now done 5247.8km and every time mileage was coming same between 44-45kmpl. I will go to service centre for 3rd service after 5750 because my bike condition is amazing.First service cost approx 700rs only (engine oil, oil filter, chain lube, wd-40 spray in switches to work properly after wash and polish) charges second service cost was 616rs (engine oil, oil filter and may be of any spray because i have not permissed to lube chain with tvs chain lube, wd-40 and polish because i prefer to use motul chain lube and i buyed chain lube-cleaner of motul and wd-40) polish may do matte colour to glossy mine was matte grey above given is pros and cons is chain noise and rear disc not some time during braking, chain gets loose after every 150km after tighting the chain. for smoth riding and superb mileage switch gear from 1 to 2 in 10-15 speed 2 to 3rd gear in 20(speed) 3rd gear to 4th in 30speed 4th gear to 5th gear in 40-45 speed.

I will go to service centre for 3rd service after 5750 because my bike condition is amazing.First service cost approx 700rs only (engine oil, oil filter, chain lube, wd-40 spray in switches to work properly after wash and polish) charges second service cost was 616rs (engine oil, oil filter and may be of any spray because i have not permissed to lube chain with tvs chain lube, wd-40 and polish because i prefer to use motul chain lube and i buyed chain lube-cleaner of motul and wd-40) polish may do matte colour to glossy mine was matte grey above given is pros and cons is chain noise and rear disc not some time during braking, chain gets loose after every 150km after tighting the chain. for smoth riding and superb mileage switch gear from 1 to 2 in 10-15 speed 2 to 3rd gear in 20(speed) 3rd gear to 4th in 30speed 4th gear to 5th gear in 40-45 speed.

very good style as compare to unicorn.People turns heads to view it in traffic(its personal choice but)

    attractive colors, white is best.

    Sporty look

engine performance, fuel economy and gearbox

    Pros

    pro - great pick up - avg 52-55 tested - smooth gearbox,powerful light,features,

    cons

-sporty which normal indians don't like

  • Tvs rtr 160 : the work-horse

    Omkar Thakur

    Style

the rtr 160 has been a decent looking motorcycle with proportionate design and styling.

  • Not up to mark!!!

    Akhilesh

Style yes!

    Pros

    styling, speed, performance, looks

    cons

build quality, engine vibrations, ride control, mileage, panic service and lots more.

  • Tvs rtr 160 : the work-horse

    Omkar Thakur

    Style

the rtr 160 has been a decent looking motorcycle with proportionate design and styling.

    Pros

    styling, speed, performance, looks

    cons

build quality, engine vibrations, ride control, mileage, panic service and lots more.
