  • Best bike for indian conditions

Style i have had the tiger 800 xcx for about 3 months now & besides commuting within the south of india, i have also ridden it from chandigarh to leh & around. At 15 lacs on road in chennai i would consider it a tad expensive considering the benelli offers something remotely close but at half the price. However, once you're on the bike, you realise the value for your money.

Engine performance, fuel economy and gearbox ll those features you read about on the web site actually work, the traction control & abs are amazing. The true spirit of the bike is on the indian roads as we know it. The wp suspension comes into its own & even with two people on the saddle. Not a bump is too big & clearly you're not going to die in a pot hole as has been the case of late in india. The suspension just eats up any road & so does the power delivery. The torque in any gear is simply superb. Whilst you may find the street racers whizzing past you on the 4 lane highways, enter the true indian single lanes with potholes & gravel shoulders, there is no street bike that can come close to the tiger.

Ride quality & handling it holds steady & any loss of traction on the gravel shoulders is immediately corrected by the traction control system. I could go on & on but i'll sum up saying that if there is a perfect bike for indian conditions, it has to be the tiger.

Areas of improvement the down side would be the city riding though, not because of anything else but the immense heat generated in this naked 3 cylinder 800 cc bike, it does get to you at traffic lights & if you're in a jam. The other issue i'm having is the spare parts. None of the dealers in the south seem to have the rear tyre tube that i punctured in the himalayas!!!!!! that would be the most basic part for anyone to have.

    Pros

    technology, riding comfort, braking, perfomance

    cons

    price, unavailability of spares
